Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.
On the Waymo Marketing team, you will help to connect people with the magic and impact of Waymo's autonomous driving technology. Our team has the unique opportunity to not only grow Waymo's brand from the ground up, but to also build societal acceptance for autonomous driving technology for the first time in history. We build thoughtful marketing strategy, positioning, messaging and creative assets to deliver messages that matter to our audience, communicated through anything from video content, to social media interactions, to immersive physical experiences. We also shape Waymo's go-to-market initiatives, helping to transform Waymo into a thriving business with a growing user base.
This role follows a hybrid work schedule and reports to the Head of Marketing.
You will:
-
Work closely with our Market Research, Media, and Analytics teams to inform the overall marketing content strategy and calendar across Product Marketing, Brand Marketing, Creative Design, and International Marketing.
-
Act as brand guardian overseeing all corporate marketing touch points (i.e. websites, external presentations, brand usage rights) including a governance process to monitor brand logo usage.
-
Own and evolve Waymo’s brand positioning, narrative, and messaging frameworks, ensuring they are clear, durable, and actively used to guide decisions across campaigns, channels, and experiences.
-
Bring corporate thought leadership to new narratives, business lines, naming, and brand architecture needs.
-
Work closely with Policy, Public Affairs, and Legal teams to build narratives and content that uplift Waymo’s corporate brand reputation.
-
Create frameworks that help organize the team’s work and drive speed and efficiency.
You have:
-
10+ years of brand, content, and/or corporate strategy leadership experience.
-
Proven examples of building and evolving brands through a period of scale or market transition.
-
Strong marketing strategy skills, instincts, and content planning experience.
-
Comfort operating at both the strategic and executional level.
-
A builder mindset—you can invent new models rather than relying on traditional ones.
-
Ability to translate complex products into clear, compelling stories.
-
An inspiring, strong communicator with proven experience motivating cross-functional partners.
We prefer:
-
Experience with the autonomous vehicle, automotive, or high-growth technology industry.
-
Understanding of brand safety and policy issues related to emerging technology.
-
Experience collaborating closely with Policy, Public Affairs, and Legal teams.
