Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

The Depot UX team is seeking a visionary engineer to build the tools that empower our enterprise partners to manage, maintain, and scale our vehicles globally.

This team focuses on creating solutions for Commercial RO Managers and depot field operators. Their core mission is to revolutionize depot operations by delivering intuitive and efficient user experiences.

You will design, own, and deploy a suite of mission-critical mobile and web applications—the unseen intelligence guiding everything from vehicle readiness and complex servicing protocols to real-time fleet visualization. This is your chance to architect the operational future of autonomous transportation.

In this hybrid role, you will report to an Engineering Manager.

You will:

  • Build Android systems critical to Waymo's success, such as:

  • The application used by enterprise partners to manage their fleets of autonomous vehicles

  • Foundational libraries, including scalable UI components, architecture & performance

  • Solve hard, real-world problems, such as:

  • Improve human task completion by depot operators; encapsulate the complexity of autonomous fleet management and make it accessible to partners

  • Identify and create infrastructure to enhance app scalability and developer productivity

  • Collaborate with team members such as product managers, designers, fleet operations, and UX researchers

  • Join the team owning a couple of tools used by enterprise partners: Android applications and web app application

You have:

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience

  • 4+ years of experience building UX designs on the Android platform

  • Experience working on medium to large-scale Android apps involving multiple developers and designers

  • Experience with Kotlin, Java, Android applications and UIs

We prefer:

  • Demonstrated passion and substantial experience in crafting user-facing products.

  • Adept at collaborating with product designers to achieve pixel-perfect UI implementations.

  • Familiarity with Server Driven UI (SDUI) paradigms.

  • Existing experience with or a demonstrated openness to embracing mobile full-stack development. Our team encompasses ownership of both the client-side (Android or Angular web-app) and the specialized “mobile backend for frontend” component (implemented in Kotlin).
