The Route Auditor supports contract compliance and identifies revenue opportunities through hands‑on, in‑field route audits. This salaried role conducts in‑person audits in accordance with all WM Safety Principles and Drive Cam requirements.

This is a 100% field‑based position covering Southern California and requires frequent travel, including overnight stays as needed. Work hours align with driver schedules and may include early mornings and evenings, with regular time spent working alongside drivers and riding routes.

Preferred candidates have prior previous driving experience in a work setting, and a strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures required for field operations. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word is also recommended.

Job Summary:

Analyzes transportation routes, methods, and procedures to develop and utilize the most economically advantageous and efficient means of transportation.

II.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follows WM drivers on existing routes to determine effectiveness of route sequencing and ensure proper driver procedure.

• While on route, identifies service increase opportunities.

• Shares ideas to increase route productivity while keeping service quality consistently high.

• Maintains time and production records.

• Effectively interacts and works with operations manager to ensure the most efficient, cost-effective operation of the fleet.

• Complies and ensures adherence to WM’s Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.

• Attends and contributes to periodic driver/safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.

• Updates and submits required reports in a timely manner.

III. Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

Education and Experience:

• Education: Associate's Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree required and; High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 2 years of relevant work experience required.

• Experience: No prior work experience required (in addition to education requirement).

Field: This job primarily operates in a field environment with long periods of sitting or standing. Routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc.

The expected base pay range for this hybrid position is $71,530 - $75,000 . This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
