Your New Role...

Edit breaking news and continuing coverage from National reporters during nights and weekends. Sharpen copy for clarity and impact. Ensure CNN’s coverage is fast, accurate, authoritative, competitive, contextual, and compelling. Think visually and creatively, identifying storytelling opportunities beyond traditional text formats.

Your Role Accountabilities...

· Serve as a front-line editor of internal alerts and digital articles, ensuring CNN’s coverage is fast, accurate, authoritative, competitive, contextual, and compelling.

· Sharpen and elevate copy, ensuring CNN’s writing is engaging, declarative, and accessible — even during breaking news.

· Identify the most significant headlines within developments; focus on framing and clarity.

· Occasionally serve as a primary editor on CNN’s widely read live stories.

· Think visually and creatively, identifying storytelling opportunities beyond standard text formats, in partnership with Visuals, Video and other CNN teams.

· Anticipate where a storyline is going and help CNN get there.

· Guide and direct reporting plans and pursuits, beyond basic lines.

· Provide feedback and guidance to reporters to enhance quality at every step.

· Work smoothly with reporters, editorial leaders and programming partners under pressure.

Qualifications & Experience...

· At least 5 years of progressively complex editorial experience.

· Experience helping reporters frame stories for a national audience.

· Proven ability to edit fast-moving breaking news under deadline pressure.

· Working knowledge of a wide variety of domestic news topics.

· A college degree or equivalent industry experience.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $77,840.00 - $144,560.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
