Job Summary:

The Manager/Senior Manager, Local Content, leads the development and execution of live action content and unscripted projects. This role is pivotal to shaping our slate, ensuring content aligns with local tastes, trends, and business objectives. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in production, strong industry networks, and a collaborative, entrepreneurial spirit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and develop pitches for local content, providing creative and commercial insights from initial concept to final delivery.
  • Coordinate internal resources and drive projects through the greenlight process, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Lead all aspects of live-action production, collaborating with the business affairs team for necessary rights clearance and contracts.
  • Deliver high-quality content, on time and on budget, through close oversight of the local production pipeline.
  • Engage and manage relationships with external production partners, vendors, and talent.
  • Lead and negotiate complex content, licensing, and talent deals that create innovative commercial and creative opportunities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, finance, and marketing teams to maximize content value and mitigate business risks.
  • Inspire an internal team of creative producers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience of content development, acquisitions, or producing experience.
  • Passion for bringing content to life on disney+ service
  • Fluent-level Japanese and Business-level proficiency in English
  • Strong multitasking, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and passion for entertainment and storytelling.
  • Extensive local industry network and keen understanding of local audience preferences.
  • Proven track record in negotiating and closing complex deals.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in cross-functional and multicultural team collaboration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
