Job Description:

The Walt Disney Company is committed to delivering premium content and experiences to audiences around the world. Our Marketing team thrives on innovation, collaboration, and a deep understanding of the digital landscape. We are seeking a strategic and creative Vice President, Social Media to help lead the vision, strategy, and execution of our social media presence across Disney+ and Hulu.

This role is ideal for a bold, forward-thinking leader with deep experience in the direct-to-consumer business, who understands the evolving global social landscape and how social media directly fuels subscriber acquisition, retention and lifetime value. You will oversee a high-performing team and play a pivotal role in shaping how our streaming brands come to life on social media.

Key Responsibilities:

Social Strategy & Innovation

  • Partner with internal teams and key stakeholders to establish a social framework and strategy that can guide global markets, while owning the end-to-end execution domestically.

  • Define and evolve D+ and Hulu’s social media strategy and voice, aligning with brand and content goals.

  • Lead platform-specific strategies that drive engagement, community growth, and brand relevance while considering the shifting nature of the streaming landscape.

  • Analyze audience behavior, content performance, and trends to inform strategy.

  • Strategically connect our streaming library with cultural moments, ensuring our content remains relevant and top of mind for diverse audiences.

  • Serve as a strategic partner to platform teams, maintaining close relationships to stay ahead of beta opportunities, new ad products, creator tools, commerce integrations, and evolving best practices.

  • Demonstrate strong technology fluency across major and emerging social platforms, with a deep understanding of how platform capabilities, algorithms, and product roadmaps influence content strategy, distribution, and performance.

Creative Development & Execution

  • Partner with creative leadership to develop compelling, platform-native content.

  • Oversee content production—whether in-house or via agency partners—ensuring alignment with brand tone and objectives.

  • Champion bold, breakthrough ideas that push the boundaries of what’s possible on social.

  • Closely align with the various creator workstreams to influence and ensure a clear throughline that connects to our overall social strategy.

Direct-to-Consumer & Streaming Leadership

  • Translate content launches, tentpole moments, and always‑on programming into social-first strategies that build buzz and drive social engagement.

  • Partner closely with Growth, Lifecycle, Product, and Analytics teams to ensure social strategies align with subscription funnels, release cadences, and lifecycle moments.

  • Leverage data and insights to optimize social performance against DTC KPIs, including reach, engagement, conversion, and fandom.

Team Leadership & Operations

  • Act as editor in chief of D+ and Hulu editorial calendars and publishing strategies across all social channels.

  • Mentor and develop a collaborative, high-performing team.

  • Oversee performance reporting and use insights to optimize future campaigns.

  • Manage external vendors and agencies to ensure best-in-class execution.

Audience Growth & Engagement

  • Set clear global KPIs for audience development and content performance aligned with our segment’s broader streaming strategy and corporate goals.

  • Demonstrate the ability to think through a UGC lens to creatively amplify word-of-mouth conversation and organic audience engagement.

  • Lead innovation projects that test new platforms and early-stage features.

  • Implement new monetization opportunities in partnership with the global advertising teams.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years in digital and social marketing, with executive-level leadership experience.

  • 5+ years managing mid-sized teams across multiple functions.

  • 5+ years working in streaming / direct-to-consumer with demonstrated impact on audience or subscriber growth. Deep expertise in social media platforms, trends, and creative best practices.

  • Strong understanding of how social media integrates into DTC growth, lifecycle marketing, and audience retention strategies.

  • Experience collaborating with influencers to drive brand awareness.

  • Deep understanding of the paid social landscape.

  • Proven success in consumer marketing, preferably within media or entertainment.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with a track record of presenting to senior leadership.

  • Strong creative instincts and a passion for digital storytelling.
