WTVD Digital Producer Department/Group Overview:

Disney Entertainment’s eight-owned ABC stations are multiplatform leaders in local news and information. ABC11 is the only local news station with three downtown newsrooms (Raleigh/Fayetteville/Durham), Eyewitness News provides news, weather and sports information 24 hours a day on ABC11.com, the ABC11 mobile news app and the connected TV streaming app.

Job Summary:

Our ideal candidate is tech-savvy and passionate about covering the biggest stories of the day and how those stories impact local communities. The candidate will use various metrics to grow digital audiences through published content and social media. This person will have a high degree of ethics, empathy and professionalism and will be able to function well under pressure and execute breaking news.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role

• Create and publish digital content for all ABC11’s digital platforms, including 24/7 streaming, VOD and CTV.
• Create and curate compelling, SEO-optimized content while demonstrating strong writing, editing, and multitasking skills to effectively increase audience enhancement.
• Collaborate with the assignment desk, newsroom staff to coordinate breaking news and daily news coverage, special projects, and companywide initiatives.
• Use audience analytics in real time to optimize content performance, ensuring accuracy, speed, and relevance.

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

• Minimum of 2+ years of digital content experience, preferably in a newsroom, with strong editorial judgment and proficiency in AP Style.
• Excellent writing, communication, and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment both independently and collaboratively.
• Technical proficiency in basic HTML, with experience in video editing (Adobe Premiere) and newsroom systems (e.g., Dalet) preferred
• Must be flexible to work varied hours, including nights and weekends, fully on-site.

Preferred Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, minimum of 2-3 years of experience that includes producing online content. Advance degree is a plus.

The hiring range for this position in Durham, NC is $46,900 - $62,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
