Overview:

Vanguard is seeking a senior communications leader to shape and lead the firm’s B2B communications strategy across its Financial Advisor and Workplace Solutions divisions. The Head of B2B Communications Strategy will define and deliver enterprise level communications that strengthen Vanguard’s reputation, influence senior leaders, and advance key business priorities with external and internal audiences.

This role serves as a trusted advisor to senior executives and business leaders, providing strategic counsel, executive communications support, and oversight of integrated communications efforts across earned, owned, paid, and shared channels. The successful candidate brings deep B2B communications experience, strong media relations capability, and the ability to lead teams and operate effectively in complex, high visibility environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops B2B and executive communications strategies with a company-wide perspective to enable strategic business outcomes for our Financial Advisor and Workplace Solutions divisions. Leads the communication development, operation, delivery, and measurement across a variety of business needs.
  • Protects Vanguard's reputation through all communications across various channels and platforms. Leads team to proactively source and deliver business-critical communications.
  • Partners closely with senior leaders to advise and develop communications strategies and ensures messaging is integrated and aligned across communications channels. Provides strategic communications counsel for executive leaders.
  • Serves as primary communications contact and counsel for senior leaders, including responsibility and oversight of executive communications efforts.
  • Drives the development of communication agendas with high-quality communications material across a variety of formats, platforms. and channels, including earned, owned, paid, and shared tactics. Drives the development of new channels as appropriate.
  • Drives the impact of the collective communication strategy. Ensures the execution of all phases of the communications process, including conception, implementation, and measurement. Pushes the team to measure communications progress and opportunities
  • Balances external practice with internal brand. Serve as a Vanguard authority on industry best practices, emerging trends, and their validity in Vanguard's environment and culture to encourage adoption as appropriate.
  • Develops and strengthens working relationships with key influencers and executives across the organization and in the industry to support communications and business objectives.
  • Spearheads continuous improvements in Vanguard's communication strategy and implementation. Measures and monitors client satisfaction and makes recommendations based on feedback gathered from various sources.
  • Responsible for hiring and cultivating a team of multi-disciplinary communications professionals who work collaboratively with all partners. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Influences communications prioritization, sequencing, and message alignment across the enterprise.
  • Inspires direct and broader Communications Strategy team to be innovative, ambitious, and execute exceptionally.
  • Collaborates seamlessly with key partners including those throughout Communications, Marketing, and business teams.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum ten years related work experience in B2B, financial services, and/or executive communications experience strongly preferred. Supervisory and PR experience required.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-level B2B communications strategies within complex, highly regulated environments; financial services, asset management, or adjacent industries strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success serving as a trusted communications advisor to C-suite and senior executives, including experience shaping executive narratives, thought leadership, and high-stakes communications.
  • Deep expertise across earned, owned, paid, and shared channels, with the ability to orchestrate integrated campaigns that drive measurable business and reputational outcomes.
  • Strong media relations and issues management background, including experience engaging with top-tier business, financial, and trade media, and managing sensitive or high-visibility situations.
  • Experience translating complex business strategies, products, and market dynamics into clear, compelling B2B messaging for advisor, institutional, and workplace audiences.
