Job Description

U.S. Bank has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Senior Banker to join its Commercial Real Estate (CRE) team in Chicago. The ideal Relationship Manager brings a strong track record of business development within the commercial real estate space, along with the ability to manage, grow, and optimize a large and complex loan portfolio.

The Relationship Manager will be responsible for driving revenue growth by actively prospecting for new business while retaining and expanding existing client relationships. This includes building trusted partnerships with real estate funds, developers, investors, high‑net‑worth individuals and family offices, and institutional capital providers by delivering tailored financial solutions that support clients’ long‑term objectives.

In this role, the Relationship Manager will originate large and complex commercial real estate transactions, including term loans, construction loans, bridge loans, sublines, and lines of credit, while maintaining overall portfolio credit quality. The role requires sound credit judgment, proactive risk management, and adherence to bank policies and regulatory requirements.

The Relationship Manager will also advise clients and prospects on a broad range of commercial banking products and ancillary services, identify cross‑sell opportunities, and make appropriate referrals to internal partners. Additionally, the Relationship Manager will serve as a brand ambassador for U.S. Bank, representing the organization in the local market, building relationships with real estate professionals, and supporting the Bank’s visibility through industry engagement and events, as applicable. Success in this role requires strong collaboration across product teams to deliver comprehensive, client‑centric solutions and support the continued growth of the CRE platform.

  • Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, accounting or other related field
  • Five or more years of commercial real estate experience
  • Two or more years of management experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Advanced knowledge and experience in commercial real estate loan origination and portfolio management.

  • Understanding of commercial real estate credit and underwriting.

  • Proven business development and strategic management skills.

  • Chicago CRE market knowledge and originations and business development experience

  • Experience with driving successful internal partnerships with deposit/treasury management and payment solutions, syndications, derivatives, wealth management, etc.

  • Strong leadership and strategic management skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Well-developed analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills

  • Salesforce and n Cino experience a plus

Location expectations

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $159,970.00 - $188,200.00
