Job overview and responsibilities

United's Digital Technology team designs, develops, and maintains massively scaling technology solutions brought to life with innovative architectures, data analytics, and digital solutions.
Our PSS-team is responsible for developing and maintaining our Passenger Service System (PSS), which is the heart of any airline and runs mission-critical and highly complex modules such as Schedule, Inventory, Reservations (PNR/Order and Ticket), and the Day-of-Departure customer processes! Our team is building new PSS system using the latest digital technologies and digital infrastructure to provide our customer the best digital experience in the industry.
   

People Leadership & Team Development: Lead and mentor a team of tech leads, application developers and analysts to maximize performance and engagement. Provide regular feedback, coaching, and career development opportunities to all team members. Ensure effective resource planning and workload distribution to optimize productivity. Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a crucial link between the US management team and the local/global application team, ensuring alignment on business priorities and technology roadmaps. Communicate effectively with leadership to provide updates on project progress, risks, and opportunities. Navigate cultural and time zone differences to foster seamless collaboration and successful delivery.
 

Application Delivery & Execution: Manage the entire application delivery lifecycle to ensure timely, high-quality, and cost-effective results. Promote best practices in Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies to enhance development efficiency and accelerate time to market. Leverage AI where relevant. Ensure that applications are stable, scalable, and compliant with enterprise architecture and security standards. Identify and address risks that may affect application performance, security, or delivery timelines.
 

Product Leadership and Collaboration: Collaborate with United business and DT leadership teams, as well as product SMEs, to establish the end-state vision, goals, and strategy for the product, and develop a multi-year product development strategy and tactical plans. Exchange knowledge and work together to devise effective and innovative solutions to challenges. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT operations, security, and quality assurance, to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of our applications.

This position is offered on local terms and conditions.  Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded. This position is for United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd - a wholly owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc.
 

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology Engineering.
•   12+ years of IT and business/industry experience in application development, or software delivery roles, with a strong focus on people leadership.
•   10+ years of experience in application development using .NET, React and AWS tech stack. 
•   4+ years of experience in architecting and designing the complex software applications.
•   Expert level knowledge in the Aviation PSS (Passenger Service Systems), with expertise in IATA’s Order/Offer framework.
•   Proven experience in leading application development teams, preferably within the Airline Passenger Service systems
•   Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with business partners and stakeholders.
•   Well versed with Microservices architecture, Docker/Container and CI/CD concepts. 
•   Strong knowledge in stakeholder engagement and working with US-based leadership teams.
•    Experience in Agile, DevOps, and cloud-based application development (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud).
•    Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
•    Ability to navigate cross-cultural teams and time zone challenges to ensure seamless collaboration.
•    Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship. 
•    Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
