Job overview and responsibilities

We are seeking a Developer II AI Engineer to join the Mosaic Program, a strategic initiative dedicated to modernizing our Passenger Service System (PSS) through a cutting-edge, cloud-based platform.
In this role, you will be at the forefront of our digital transformation—not only helping migrate legacy applications to the cloud but also building the AI tools that power that transition. You will leverage LangChain and LangGraph to create intelligent agents designed to accelerate every stage of our development lifecycle, from reverse-engineering legacy logic to implementing modern, cloud-native services.
•    SDLC Acceleration: Build and refine AI agents and workflows to automate the reverse engineering of legacy codebases, significantly speeding up the migration to cloud-native microservices.
•    AI Orchestration: Develop stateful, multi-agent reasoning systems using LangGraph to manage complex logic transformations and automated code generation.
•    Hybrid Development: Maintain dual-stack proficiency by writing high-quality ASP.NET/C# code for core PSS services while creating Python-based AI tools to support the development ecosystem.
•    RAG Implementation: Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines to efficiently index and query extensive technical documentation and legacy specifications.
•    Model Integration: Deploy and fine-tune LLMs (OpenAI, Claude, LLaMA, AWS Bedrock) to automate testing, documentation, and code refactoring.
•    Observability & Quality: Utilize LangSmith to evaluate agent performance, ensuring all AI-generated outputs meet United’s rigorous standards for safety, accuracy, and reliability.

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

•    Dual-Stack Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience in Python (for AI development) and .NET/C# (for application development).
•    AI Frameworks: Practical experience using LangChain and LangGraph to build multi-step reasoning workflows.
•    Modern Data Solutions: Familiarity with semantic search and Vector Databases (e.g., Pinecone, FAISS, Chroma).
•    Cloud & DevOps: Experience with Microservices, Docker, and Kubernetes (EKS/ECS).
•    Messaging & Integration: Understanding of event-driven architectures and messaging systems like Solace, Kafka, or MQ.
•    Database Knowledge: Experience with NoSQL (DynamoDB preferred) and RDBMS (Oracle, MySQL).
•    Modern Tooling: Strong command of GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and exposure to AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude).
