About the Role

The Maps Search team powers all location searches across Uber apps - pickup and dropoff location search for Rides, Eats, Connect etc. This is a full stack team building cutting edge Deep Learning models, performant backend systems and world class mobile experiences to power Search & Recommendation at scale.

As the Engineering Manager, you will own the search platform & experience end-to-end and lead a motivated group of engineers with expertise across backend platforms, ML/AI & mobile development domains.

---- What the Candidate Will Do ----

• Lead the team to deliver on multiple projects in an ambiguous and high-impact area.
• Work with your team and cross functional partners to define and influence engineering & product strategy.
• Participate in ML, backend & mobile technical design.
• Drive roadmap creation and execution.
• Measure the impact of your team and set clear expectations and goals
• Work effectively with cross functional partners and stakeholders to set and achieve optimal outcomes

---- Basic Qualifications ----

• Experience in leading and developing teams which work in information retrieval domains like search, recommender systems, assistants etc.
• Experience with distributed systems and services
• Experience of building machine learning applications at scale
• Strong background in execution and delivery of consumer-focused features or products

---- Preferred Qualifications ----

• Experience leading team in Maps or Location Search & Recommendation domain.
• High technical depth in ML/AI applications or backend platforms.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with proven experience partnering with and communicating highly technical concepts and roadmaps to partner teams, product management, and executives.

• For Canada-based roles: The base salary range for this role is CAD**$182,000 per year**
• CAD**$202,000 per year**.
