AMERCO Real Estate Company is National Commercial Developer seeking a Structural Engineer for its Construction Department. The ideal candidate will have the ability to provide design services and coordinate building permit plan sets for Architectural, Structural, MP&E permit submittals. As a Structural Engineer, you are primarily concerned with designing and constructing buildings and structures that are safe and capable of withstanding the elements to which they will be exposed, as well as improving the structural integrity of existing buildings.

Qualifications

Key tasks include:

• Preparing reports, designs and drawings
• Making calculations about loads and stresses
• Selecting appropriate construction materials
• Providing technical advice
• Obtaining planning and/or building regulations approval
• Liaising with relevant professional staff such as architects
• Monitoring and inspecting work undertaken by contractors
• Administering contracts
• Managing projects
• Inspecting properties to check conditions/foundations
  Additional duties:
• Coordinate production of commercial building plans for construction and permit
• Analyze structural elements and load capabilities of existing buildings
• Communicate value engineering options and design build techniques
• Design structures to withstand stresses and pressures imposed through environmental conditions and human use
• Ensure buildings and other structures do not deflect, rotate, vibrate excessively or collapse and that they remain stable and secure throughout their use

Additional Information

Requirements:

• Travel required
• Familiar with design and construction using cold formed steel (load bearing, shear walls, etc.), structural steel, concrete, CMU/Masonry, wood and other materials
• Proficient in AutoCAD 2015+, RISA and ENERCALC
