To save time applying, Toyota does not offer sponsorship of job applicants for employment-based visas or any other work authorization for this position at this time.
Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Human Resources Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Advanced Compensation – Technical Product Owner.
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the technical strategy, stability, and evolution of our Workday compensation ecosystem. This role ensures flawless execution of annual and off‑cycle compensation events. It also drives the maturity of our Job Catalog and Job Profiles, while delivering new product capabilities through strong technical ownership.
Reporting to the Technical Product Manager-HR Tech and Data, the ideal candidate is a technologist that brings a product mindset, strong systems thinking, and the ability to translate business needs into scalable, high-quality technical solutions. This individual will partner closely with HR, Total Rewards, HR Technology, and cross-functional teams to build a reliable, data-driven compensation foundation that fuels smarter decision-making.
This position is based in Plano, Texas. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.
What you’ll be doing
-
Keep compensation cycles running strong (salary + hourly): Own end-to-end technical readiness for annual, mid-cycle, hourly events, and off-cycle compensation changes; ensure stable integrations and clean data flows across Workday and downstream systems.
-
Operational excellence: Lead issue resolution, root-cause analysis, and defect prevention; establish regression planning, validation activities, and monitoring to improve reliability over time.
-
Drive Job Catalog maturity and Job Profile data expansion: Steward job architecture data; ensure Job Profiles are accurate, complete, and structured to support analytics, career architecture, skills frameworks, and compensation modeling; define data governance rules, quality checks, and version control.
-
True technical product ownership: Act as the product owner for Advanced Compensation—owning vision, priorities, roadmap, and backlog; translate business needs into technical requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria; partner with Workday configuration and integration teams without directly owning configuration work.
-
Technical and data excellence: Ensure design patterns align with enterprise standards and Workday best practices; assess upstream/downstream impacts; partner with data and reporting teams to ensure compensation and job data are accurate, timely, and usable.
-
Change and release management: Coordinate testing cycles, release readiness, communications, and training support for impacted users; proactively identify risks and drive mitigation and scenario planning.
What you bring
-
3+ years of experience in HR Technology or HRIS
-
Experience supporting or leading annual compensation cycles and/or off-cycle compensation changes in an HRIS environment
-
Demonstrated experience defining requirements, documenting process and system needs, and partnering with technical teams through testing and delivery
-
Strong analytical skills, including data validation, issue investigation, and root-cause analysis
-
Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences and produce strong documentation
-
Working understanding of data privacy and access concepts for sensitive employee and compensation data
Added bonus if you have
-
Workday system experience highly preferred
-
Experience as a Product Owner (or Technical Product Owner) in an HR or enterprise systems environment
-
Exposure to Job Catalog development, skills architecture, or job design frameworks
-
Familiarity with Workday reporting, integrations, or business process design (conceptual knowledge; hands-on configuration)
-
Strong data governance mindset (quality checks, controls, and audit support)
