Who we're looking for
Toyota Financial Services Enterprise Platforms team is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Lead Software Engineer - Java. In this pivotal leadership role, you will drive the technology strategy and innovation for our Enterprise platforms and frameworks factory, ensuring alignment with business goals. Reporting to senior leadership, you will play a key role in shaping technology direction, fostering collaboration across teams, and delivering impactful solutions that power Toyota’s financial services.
What you'll be doing
Imagine leading a dynamic team that builds scalable, cloud-native applications that transform how Toyota Financial Services operates. Success means delivering high-quality software solutions that meet business needs while mentoring and growing technical talent. Your typical day will involve strategic planning, hands-on technical leadership, and collaborating with cross-functional partners to drive innovation and excellence.

Develop and execute the domain’s technology strategy and transformational roadmaps that align with business objectives

Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects, ensuring delivery excellence with high standards for code quality and application performance

Own the end-to-end development lifecycle, from design through testing to smooth production deployment within our cloud ecosystem
-
Manage and enforce enterprise architecture standards to maintain scalable and secure systems
-
Mentor, staff, and grow a talented team of software engineers, fostering their professional development and success
-
Collaborate closely with Technology Domain Owners, Enterprise Architecture, Data Domain Owners, and Business Domain Owners to drive strategic initiatives
-
Provide regular performance and status updates to senior executives, including incident management insights
-
Stay ahead of industry trends and integrate new tools and methodologies to continuously improve our technology solutions
What you bring
-
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field that provides a strong foundation in software engineering principles
-
10+ years of experience in software development with expertise in Java or Python, Spring Boot, NodeJS, REST APIs, real-time streaming architectures, and microservices patterns
-
Demonstrated ability to develop scalable web applications and define architectural standards that support enterprise needs
-
Experience leading and mentoring software engineering teams, inspiring growth and delivering results through collaboration
-
Practical knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred), advanced software design patterns, operations, and engineering best practices
-
Track record of delivering scalable cloud-native solutions addressing logging, testing, security, and instrumentation using Java, Python, SQL, and AWS services
Added bonus if you have

Master’s degree in computer science or related field that deepens your technical expertise

Experience with horizontal platforms or related enterprise services and technologies

Strong background architecting large-scale, mission-critical cloud-native applications for enterprises

Familiarity with event-driven architectures and microservices design that enhance system responsiveness and scalability
