Activities Activities in Gas and Power

As part of the Trade Support organisation, the Trade Support Analyst Coordinator will support the Gas and Power trading functions in Geneva and Singapore, and maintains a high level of collaboration and trust with Trade Support Team in these locations.

The team works closely with the Traders, Operations, Originators, Middle Office, Energy Data Management, Compliance, Credit, Treasury, Trading Accounting and the IT teams. The team is in charge of managing a portfolio of external and internal counterparts dealing with physical transactions in gas and power (OTC physical, capacity transactions, beach swaps, brokerage, grid operators contracts, gas and power contracts, …).

Key responsibilities include deal confirmations, position validation, invoicing, payments and contract management. These processes are key to the commerciality of deals transacted by the Front Office teams. Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy are essential skills in an environment where an error can have both financial and reputational ramifications. Strong drive to improve processes and systems is a must.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate a team of approximately 6 Trade Support Analysts, providing guidance, mentorship, training and support. Ensure team development and engagement in the trade support activities
  • Oversee general Back Office duties & run regular controls on Back Office processes
  • Manage a portfolio of high profile sophisticated trading counterparts
  • Ensure that contractual obligations are met
  • Ensure daily that accurate trading information is represented within our ‘in-house’ trading systems
  • Communicate with internal and external parties to ensure timely resolutions to problems and queries, and escalate when appropriate
  • Approve incoming invoices
  • Assist the Finance team with timely payment instructions, accruals, aged debt reporting and resolution
  • Support, identify, and assist in implementing IT systems improvements, collaborate with IT teams to make sure Back Office’s tools are enabled and support changes in the business
  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement within the Back Office function. Implement streamlined workflows and procedures to enhance efficiency. Collaborate with other functions to drive improvement in operational excellence
  • Ensure operational procedures are validated and up to date
  • Identify and communicate operational risk, define risk mitigating measures and priorities
  • Work closely with internal & external audit teams to provide accurate information and effectively address audit findings

Candidate Profile

  • The ideal candidate holds a bachelor/master’s degree or equivalent, with 5-7 years’ relevant experience in a commodity trading company, out of which 2-3 years as a team leader/supervisor
  • Knowledge of gas, power, certificates in Europe is essential
  • Ability to train analysts and transfer knowledge
  • Leadership / mentoring skills
  • A high level of engagement, reliability, accuracy and strong team player mentality
  • Very strong ability to change in a complex and changing environment
  • High level of professionalism, strong work ethics and accountability
  • Strong drive for results and ability to meet tight deadlines in a pressurised environment
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills and customer service mentality
  • Being fluent in English is essential and European languages are desirable
  • Strong drive to improve processes and systems
  • Good knowledge of project management
  • Good IT skills and AI literacy

The fast-paced trading environment requires the jobholder to be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team. The position requires strong communication skills within the team, externally and with other departments within the organisation. Both industry and contractual deadlines need to be respected to meet all of the company’s obligations. Reporting and monitoring obligations per the Mifid, EMIR, Sarbanes-Oxley Act and to comply with other rules & regulations require diligence and attention to detail.
