Activities

Join our affiliate Total Energies EP Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur and become part of the Malaysia Exploration team.

As a Geophysicist, you will contribute to a regional exploration project aimed at rebuilding and updating the geological and geophysical understanding of the Sarawak Basin, leveraging newly available regional seismic data and existing well information.

The main objective of the assignment is to develop a regional seismic interpretation integrated with well data in order to generate large-scale geological and palaeoenvironmental syntheses supporting exploration decision-making.

Working in close collaboration with a Geologist within a dedicated duo

, your main responsibilities will include:- Reviewing thecurrent regional geophysical and geological understanding of the Sarawak Basin and identifying key uncertainties.

  • Interpreting regional seismic datasets, including newly acquired seismic data.
  • Integrating well data (markers, correlations, biostratigraphy inputs) with seismic interpretation.
  • Using seismic attributes and well control to contribute to regional palaeoenvironmental mapping.
  • Supporting prospect identification, evaluation and maturation through regional-scale interpretation.
  • Contributing to the preparation of clear, concise and standardized technical deliverables.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in regional seismic interpretation and exploration workflows within an international and multicultural E&P environment, while directly supporting exploration studies and future development opportunities.

Candidate Profile

Education & Background

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Geophysics, Geosciences, or equivalent
  • Specialization in seismic interpretation / exploration geophysics
  • Initial experience in the oil & gas exploration environment (internship, apprenticeship, or first professional experience)

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of well correlation.
  • Basic understanding of regional geological synthesis, including:Structural geology
  • Sedimentology
  • Ability to work on regional-scale seismic datasets to support exploration studies

Computing Skills

  • Knowledge of seismic interpretation software such as Petrel, Sismage, Landmark (or equivalent)
  • Good command of Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Knowledge of GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) is an advantage

Languages

  • English: B2/C1 level
  • French: B2/C1 level
