Context & Environment

There is no equivalent project of such an industrial drilling magnitude in a remote and sensitive area within the Company today. The Tilenga oilfields are partly situated in a protected National Park, partly beneath the river Nile wetlands area, and within densely populated area in a rural and remote part of Uganda. Activities exposed to the risk of major incidents with severe potential consequences due to local environment and important presence of NGO’s. Factory Drilling with a well delivered every 4 days using 3 drilling rigs simultaneously will necessitate standardization of equipment and procedures, strict enforcement of Drilling & Well instructions, safe and efficient logistic management on site. The project is focused on delivering the lowest possible cost, which requires challenging Total Energies design concepts as well as substantially challenging the Total Energies referential. Multicultural environment: Contractors are anticipated to be located in various parts of the world. Ugandan rules and regulations, administrative requirements and technical authorizations as well as international codes for onshore plant will apply.

Activities Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adopt and demonstrate exemplary behavior with regard to HSSE and to implement and control HSSE rules and requirements within his area of responsibility.
  • Develop, implement and maintain procedures, means and tools to ensure the efficient organization and operation of the scheduling, progress control and reporting activities.
  • Define (and update as necessary) a suitable Work Breakdown Structure complying with Project needs in terms of progress control, cost control and reporting, for all phases of the Project.
  • Develop, update and revise the overall integrated Project Schedules as required by Project Management, and provide analyses and simulations of new schedules also as required.
  • Assist Packages scheduling team to review and comment contractors' procedures and schedules, scheduling and progress control methodology, and to monitor contractors' execution schedule, to check and approve contractors' progress measurement and progress reports.
  • Organize, during the Execution phase, co-ordinate, supervise and control all the activities of Planning Engineers, by informing, supporting and directing them in their roles, responsibilities and objectives.
  • Consolidate Ugandan content man-hours from all packages.
  • Define (and update as necessary) a suitable Monthly Report structure complying with Concessionaire/Partners and Project needs.
  • Perform the reporting activities as informed and directed by the Services Leader.
  • Develop Project Monthly Report / Project Weekly Report (and any other report as requested) during all phases of Project, as directed by the Services Leader.
  • As a general manner, to provide assistance to the Project Management for all matters related to scheduling and progress reporting and general reporting, and to manage all activities related to scheduling and reporting (as directed).
  • Gather ‘lessons learnt’ and provide feedback to other TOTAL E&P entities as required. Participate in the enhancement of Planning profession and Project planning and scheduling expertise vis-à-vis the Group and the Subsidiary.
  • Timely report to the Project Control Manager, highlighting progress and encountering areas of concern.

Candidate Profile Qualifications & Experience:

  • BSc or equivalent in a technical discipline or appropriate experience.
  • Minimum 10 years’ practical, relevant and progressive experience in in planning of projects in Oil & Gas and/or large construction projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Excel, MS Project and Primavera.
  • Well developed analytical and reporting skills.
  • Able to coordinate and work with other teams and have a multi-disciplinary knowledge
  • Cultural awareness and ability to promote a healthy working relationship with the potential National Contractors and Suppliers
