What you’ll do

We are looking for a senior engineer ready to contribute to the delivery of globally distributed, high-uptime applications. You will be passionate about developing talent and living and promoting a strong engineering mindset to move our organization to the next level. You will be a champion of agile and mainframe transformation. You will work closely with our Product Management and Business team to seek opportunities and solve problems that make TJX better.

• Experience of driving automation, optimization and modernization framework on Mainframes.
• Proven experience of developing new features and services that are medium to high level of complexity working with the Product, Platform, Infrastructure and Security teams
• Proven ability to design, code, test, deploy & support working software/technology components, working collaboratively with architects and other engineers
• Experience in delivering clean, secure, performant code / technology components that meets all non-functional requirements
• Experience in leading discussions on design approaches to solving highly visible, strategic and complex business problems
• Experience in establishing development process definitions, best practices and standards
• Experience identifying emerging technologies for consideration for new technology direction and implementing proof of concepts to prove the new technology
• Experience of acting in a Lead Engineer capacity for medium to large initiatives, prioritizing and assigning tasks, providing guidance and resolving issues
• Proven ability to mentor more junior engineers across the technical domains/enterprise

We are seeking a motivated, talented, experienced Senior Engineer who has deep Mainframe Modernization, Optimization knowledge and experience to design and implement business functionality in their assigned Platforms / Products using and creating Dev Sec Ops best practices. We want people that can support and lead the technical strategy in their product team and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical associates.

Minimum Qualifications

• 6-10 years of experience as a senior software engineer, tech lead in the IBM Z platform
• Hands on extensive experience in REXX, COBOL, JCL, IMS and DB2.
• Hands on experience on Mainframe optimization techniques, performance tuning, modernization and automation.
• Well versed in Dev Sec Ops best practices and experience with cloud technologies.
• Code Review, Solutioning, Mentoring.
• Experience in agile software development and continuous improvement concepts.
• Have knowledge on Python, SMF, DCOLLECT, MIPS consumption on the Mainframe System.
• Strong team management and organization skills; ability to lead, motivate and direct global workgroup.
• Comfortable providing timely, constructive performance feedback to technical and non-technical associates.
• Highly developed verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work up and down the organization, able to influence others to achieve results

Nice to have skills:

• DevOps on Z, Mainframe Modernization and Transformation.
• Experience in AI tools e.g. Copilot Analysis, Github
• Ability to work in globally distributed teams and develop multi-level relationships.
• Exposure to diverse portfolio of applications is a plus
