Role Overview

As the core leader of Japan Global Business Marketing (GBM), you will oversee the full-scale operation of the Japan marketing team and act as the strategic bridge connecting Global, GAPAC (Asia-Pacific) functions. You will ensure full alignment and seamless execution of marketing strategies while driving Japan's commercial growth through innovation and data-driven insights, building a high-impact brand marketing ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Leadership & Cross-Functional Alignment
  • Lead overall operational planning of the Japan GBM team, collaborating closely with Global HQ, GAPAC, and business, sales, and product teams.
  • Align strategic goals, synchronize execution, and resolve cross-regional or cross-functional challenges to ensure seamless end-to-end strategy execution.
  1. Commercial Marketing Strategy Execution
  • Develop and implement Japan-specific commercial marketing and sponsorship strategies based on user insights and market trends.
  • Combine creative thinking with data-driven decision-making to launch innovative initiatives, such as digital and scenario-based marketing campaigns, to continuously elevate brand influence and commercial performance.
  1. Marketing Campaigns & Budget Management
  • Oversee annual and quarterly marketing planning, including online/offline promotions, industry events, and brand collaborations
  • Design efficient budget allocations, and closely monitor execution performance to strengthen brand visibility, engagement, and partner perception.
  1. Commercial Partnership Development
  • Lead the end-to-end incubation, commercialization, and long-term management of commercial partnership & sponsorship programs, expanding partnerships with leading Japanese and multinational brands.
  • Drive resource integration and commercial revenue growth across key industries such as Technology, Consumer Goods, and E-commerce.
  1. Marketing Innovation & Competitiveness Enhancement
  • Drive marketing innovation through creativity and data, developing localized, insight-led content strategies tailored to Japanese consumer behaviors, such as brand story and social media engagement, to strengthen brand differentiation.
  1. Business Planning & Resource Allocation
  • Lead semi-annual business planning to define priorities and key objectives.
  • Adaptively optimize team resources and GTM execution efficiency in response to Japan's fast-evolving market environment, including policy shifts and dynamics.
  1. Organizational Optimization & Collaboration Efficiency
  • Refine organizational structures and workflows, including cross-functional collaboration and project management models, to eliminate execution bottlenecks, enhance operational efficiency, and build an agile, high-performing marketing organization.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above from a recognized institution, preferably in Marketing, Business Administration, International Business, or Japanese Studies. Candidates with interdisciplinary backgrounds (e.g., Marketing + Japanese, Management + Data Analytics) are strongly preferred.
  • High/fluent written and oral proficiency in Japanese is required to manage partnerships, lead cross-functional teams, and engage effectively with external stakeholders. High business-level written and oral proficiency in English is required to collaborate with the global hub and regional teams across GAPAC and other markets.
  • At least 5 + years of professional experience in marketing, business development, or strategic management, with direct involvement in brand promotion, commercialization, or growth initiatives. At least 5 years of leadership experience managing cross-functional teams of 10 or more members, with proven success driving business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance creativity and analytical thinking, delivering innovative, data-informed marketing strategies with measurable results.
  • Deep understanding of the Japanese market environment, including consumer behavior, cultural nuances, regulatory context, and the digital ecosystem.
  • Proven track record in executing marketing strategies tailored to Japanese consumers.
  • Strong collaboration and negotiation skills, with the ability to align global, regional, and stakeholders toward shared business goals.
  • Highly accountable, detail-oriented, and capable of managing projects end-to-end with operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Established industry networks or partnerships with brands, agencies, associations, or media/KOL resources in Japan is highly desirable.
  • High written and oral proficiency in Chinese is an advantage, as it enables smoother collaboration with Chinese-speaking regional teams within GAPAC.
  • Advanced strategic and organizational leadership capabilities with a track record of leading transformation, driving innovation, and fostering high-performing teams in technology, internet, consumer goods, or retail & e-commerce industries is a plus.
