The Intelligent Creation team sits at the heart of Tik Tok engineering, shaping the future of how content is created on the platform. We are responsible for building the industry leading, intuitive, and delightful creation experiences for Tik Tok users worldwide - leveraging cutting-edge AI to empower creativity at scale. From personalized and intelligent tools to playful, trend-driven effects, we are pioneering the large-scale application of AI to inspire and support millions of creators. Our work spans UI/UX, AR/VR, real-time multimedia systems and the application of generative AI - and directly fuels Tik Tok's most iconic creative features.

We are seeking senior managers to lead full-stack engineering teams in driving generative AI innovation and architecting the complex systems behind Tik Tok's next-generation creative experiences.

  • Lead a full-stack engineering team: Manage and inspire a full-stack engineering team across mobile, front-end, back-end, and AR/VR, shaping the technical vision and delivering end-to-end execution.
  • Define and deliver technical strategy & roadmap: Define mid- and long-term technology roadmaps aligned with Tik Tok creators' needs and the latest technology trends, leading the evolution of the creation experience.
  • Ensure engineering excellence & architecture quality: Establish high standards for reliability, scalability, and performance across backend, frontend, mobile, and desktop systems, with a focus on multimedia technologies such as video/audio processing, AR/VR effects, and graphics algorithms.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration: Partner closely with product, design, data, and business teams to align resources with business priorities, accelerate delivery, and maximize impact.
  • Scale and grow talent: Own team hiring and expansion, build a world-class engineering organization, and foster a culture of technical leadership, innovation, and high performance.

  • Foster innovation and continuous improvement: Lead the incubation and delivery of AIGC, multimedia, and creative tool innovations, championing experimentation, iteration, and best practices.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of software engineering management experience
  • Strong technical background in backend/full-stack/mobile development, large-scale systems, or multimedia technologies (video/audio processing, effects, or related domains).
  • Proven ability to translate complex business needs into scalable and impactful engineering solutions.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills with experience setting and measuring engineering and product metrics.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of building influence across organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in leading large-scale teams
  • Hands-on understanding of creative domains such as camera effects, video/audio editing, templates, or digital assets, creative tools, multimedia processing, AR/VR effects, or graphics technologies.
  • Experience applying Generative AI / AIGC technologies to real-world creative products and workflows.
  • Track record of leading cross-regional platform or infrastructure initiatives at scale.
  • Strong people leadership experience: mentoring technical leaders, scaling diverse teams, and fostering an inclusive, innovative culture.
  • Background in short video, UGC/PGC ecosystems, live streaming, or social content products.

Job InformationFor Pay Transparency Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $257400 - $616000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
