Responsibilities

Our legal team provides key support for all Tik Tok's innovative initiatives, state-of-the-art products, and integrated platforms servicing our global markets. We help our legal team provide this legal guidance and support by managing legal vendor operations. The Tik Tok legal vendor management team is growing fast and seeking highly experienced, bright, and capable legal operations professionals to join the Legal Vendor Management team. The following describes the responsibilities and requirements for the role.

We are seeking an exceptional leader to serve as the Legal Vendor Management Lead, guiding a high-performing team responsible for strategic and operational management of the Company's relationships with outside counsel and other legal service providers. This role offers the opportunity to create significant impact at the Company by driving accountability, cost-effectiveness, and service excellence across the Company's law firm engagements. You will partner closely with senior leaders across Legal, Finance, Procurement and other business areas to ensure the Legal team is effectively and efficiently leveraging its outside counsel firms.

  • Lead the strategic vision and execution of the Legal Vendor Management team to build a scalable, efficient, and high-performing team
  • Provide strategic support to the Global Legal team to ensure law firm performance, service levels, and spend meet organizational expectations and competitive benchmarks
  • In partnership with key stakeholders, develop and maintain outside counsel terms of engagement, billing guidelines, secondment agreements, and other documentation to ensure law firm adherence with Company requirements
  • Own the company's process for onboarding and off-boarding legal service providers, including conflict and security review
  • Supervise billing review team to ensure law firm billing accuracy, compliance with guidelines, and budget alignment
  • Lead development, administration, and enforcement of outside counsel rate structures, including annual rate review and negotiation cycles
  • Partner with Finance to develop and maintain reporting, cost benchmarking, and spend analytics
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives to continuously improve law firm management processes and metrics
  • Establish and maintain training programs to enable team development and growth

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven success managing law firm and legal service provider relationships
  • Experienced with legal technology (e.g., e-billing, matter management, vendor evaluation tools)
  • Strong analytical, financial, contract negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships and influence organizational strategy through coalition building
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, attorneys, and external partners

Preferred Qualifications

  • Global perspective and experience managing globally distributed teams
  • JD or MBA is a plus, but not required

Compensation

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $125,400 - $235,980 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
