Global eDiscovery Lead

Our Global Legal team provides key support for all Tik Tok innovative initiatives, state-of-the-art products, and integrated platforms servicing our global video market. We help our technological and business teams enable their vision by providing integrated legal guidance and support. The Tik Tok team is growing fast and is seeking highly experienced, bright and capable legal professionals to join the team.

As a subject matter expert team in the Global Legal department, the Global e Discovery team handles e Discovery for litigation and regulatory matters involving Tik Tok in all the regions in which Tik Tok operates. The following describes the responsibilities and requirements for the role.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented e Discovery expert to join our team. This is a key supporting position that will help drive effective discovery strategy and execution across a variety of legal matters. This role will sit in the Global Litigation team and lead our e Discovery function.

Responsibilities:

• Own and lead the company’s global e Discovery strategy, operations, and technology across all litigation, regulatory, and investigation matters.
• Serve as the company’s lead subject-matter expert for e Discovery advising the Global Legal team and collaborating closely with outside counsel and internal business stakeholders on all e Discovery-related matters. Act as the primary relationship owner for e Discovery outside counsel, service providers, and vendors, driving performance, innovation, and cost control.
• Lead the global e Discovery team by overseeing day-to-day operations, setting short-term and long-term goals to build scalable discovery practices globally, and ensure team member engagement in alignment with those goals.
• Design, implement, and continuously improve global e Discovery standards, workflows, and playbooks to ensure consistency, compliance, and scalability across all regions and matters. Oversee the full e Discovery lifecycle (from preservation through external productions) to ensure defensibility and efficiency across all jurisdictions.
• Evaluate, implement, and optimize e Discovery technologies and platforms, including advanced analytics and automation. Develop metrics, reporting, and forecasting to track performance, risk, and spend across the global discovery portfolio.
• Proactively identify opportunities to modernize and innovate the company’s discovery program through process improvement and technology adoption.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and a Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school with license to practice in either New York or California (or able to obtain in-house designation in such jurisdictions)
• Deep, specialized experience in e Discovery in private practice at a highly regarded firm and/or corporate litigation and/or regulatory environments.
• Proven experience leading global teams of legal and ediscovery professionals with extensive experience managing large-scale cross-border matters
• Extensive knowledge of the e Discovery lifecycle, document review management, data privacy, and information governance.
• Strong knowledge of global regulatory obligations related to litigation, discovery, and information governance.
• Strong technical fluency with enterprise discovery platforms and workflows (including, but not limited to, Relativity and Nuix platforms).
• Experience partnering with cross-functional teams globally including Engineering, Security and Information Governance, and Global Legal teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Undergraduate or graduate background in Computer Science, Engineering, or a technical field.
• Certifications or advanced training in e Discovery, legal technology, and/or data management.
