Responsibilities
Our Trust & Safety team's commitment is to keep our online community safe. We have invested heavily in human and machine-based moderation to remove harmful content quickly and often before it reaches our general community.
The Law Enforcement Outreach team within Trust & Safety is responsible for cultivating and nurturing strategic relationships with law enforcement authorities and government agencies focusing on online safety. The primary focus will be on educating law enforcement agencies about Tik Tok's data disclosure policies and law enforcement guidelines.
About the Role
As the Global Head of Law Enforcement Outreach, you will set and implement the overall Law Enforcement strategy for the Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, Canada, Central and Latin America markets, with a particular emphasis on key Trust & Safety policy areas, including Law Enforcement Response, Emergency Response and Child Safety. Through these initiatives, you will build trusted relationships across diverse agencies and cultures.
You collaborate with a wider range of internal stakeholders and support internal teams to create and streamline business and operational processes, and increase our overall operational efficiency.
The team is seeking an experienced leader with excellent judgment, exceptional partnering skills and a passion for safety.
It is possible that this role will be exposed to harmful content as part of the core role/as part of project/ in response to escalation requests/by chance. Some content viewed may violate our community guidelines, which include but are not limited to bullying; hate speech; child abuse; sexual assault; torture; bestiality; self-harm; suicide; murder.
Note, that frequent travel is a requirement of the role.
What Will I Be Doing?
- You will lead a team of Law Enforcement Outreach Managers, ensuring daily operational effectiveness, setting strategic goals, and be responsible for their wellness.
- You'll coach/mentor team members and devise development plans for their professional development.
- Define and implement a long-term strategy for the Law Enforcement Outreach Program.
- Develop and maintain strategic working relationships with law enforcement, security, and government authorities. Ensure effective outreach coverage by understanding their needs and aligning them with our goals.
- Effectively educate law enforcement authorities on our policies, emphasizing user privacy protection and appropriate responses to legal requests.
- You'll lead and manage escalations from Law Enforcement, liaising with Legal, Policy, Product, Government Relations, Communications teams and Law Enforcement Operations colleagues whenever necessary.
- You'll identify risks and issues across the business and create programs and processes to solve them proactively. Establish regular reporting to keep stakeholders up to date on progress, findings and recommendations.
- You'll manage multiple projects of moderate-to-high complexity and scope. Work cross-functionally to ensure coordination and alignment on objectives and key results.
- You'll enhance our operational workflows via process improvements and identification of automation opportunities. Drive innovation regarding processes and best practices for implementing policies.
- You'll keep abreast and evaluate the impact of global legislative, regulatory and legal developments related to the handling and reporting of data disclosures to law enforcement authorities.
- You'll set, interpret performance metrics with the goal of impacting organizational change as a result.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- You have significant experience working with Trust & Safety issues, Law Enforcement or similar related fields of work, and types of online abuse.
- You have several years of management experience leading cross-regional teams.
- You have experience in engaging with Law Enforcement.
- You have experience in managing multiple projects and devising team strategies.
- You have the ability to work successfully in cross-functional teams, with senior stakeholders, and executives.
- You have experience and a sound knowledge of user privacy and data disclosures.
- You have excellent communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years leading teams in trust and safety, law enforcement, or government, with strong knowledge of stakeholder challenges and expectations across multiple markets
- Experience representing a company externally on safety issues with a range of government stakeholders and regulators
