
Sr Investment Performance Analytics Analyst at TIAA
About the role
The Senior Investment Performance Analytics Analyst job prepares investment performance and analytics data needed by portfolio management, marketing, client services, legal/compliance, and additional areas within the enterprise. In addition to investment performance support and analysis, the job will participate in improvement of the investment performance system. Working independently under general supervision, this job will be responsible for various project work that supports the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Support reporting needs for investment performance, Index data, GIPS composites, & Peer analysis
- Maintain performance measurement systems for calculation of portfolio returns
- Investigate anomalies in performance and find solutions to align results across platforms
- Ensure performance accuracy by performing quality control checks with a high level of attention to detail
- Assist in the development, automation, and enhancement of performance reports
- Participate in enterprise projects ensuring deadlines are met while collaborating with other business units throughout the firm
- Utilize multiple tools (both proprietary and third party) to gather information to support periodic and ad hoc reporting requirements

Required Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in investment performance calculations, reporting, and/or analysis fundamentals
- Bachelor’s degree in business (Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, Economics)
- Experience with Microsoft Excel including advanced formulas, data sorting, and modeling
- Experience utilizing desktop automation tools (VBA Excel/Access)
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in Third party software like Factset, Morningstar, Lipper or Eagle Pace
- Experience in GIPS compliance and/or implementation practices

Base Pay Range: $38.94/hr - $48.03/hr
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).

Options for rolling over a TIAA Traditional Annuity account
I worked for a Massachusetts-based university for a brief period of time in 2003-2004. The university’s retirement contributions were put into a TIAA CREF account and invested in TIAA’s Traditional Annuity. It’s a small amount of money (now about $14,500) relative to my whole portfolio, but it annoys me that it’s in an annuity account, and that it’s with TIAA when the rest of my investments are elsewhere.
