Head of AI, Brooklyn Direct Indexing
A core member of our AI team, playing a critical role in shaping and scaling AI capabilities across Brooklyn’s equities portfolio management platform. Lead by example as a hands-on individual contributor, driving the development of AI-powered solutions that enhance strategy generation, portfolio portfolio rebalancing, trade execution, and advisor-facing tools used daily by financial professionals.
Key Responsibilities and Duties

Identify and develop opportunities for AI, including agentic AI, across platform capabilities, while working with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Own multiple AI initiatives, end-to-end, from ideation to implementation, including working with a mix of greenfield and legacy integrations, deployed on AWS infrastructure (CDK, ECS Fargate, serverless components)

Bring a clear understanding of how to build and rigorously evaluate reliable, interpretable AI systems

Integrate AI into our data infrastructure, pipelines, and flows

Drive the design of complex agentic workflows pulling together data from PostgreSQL, DocumentDB, S3, and a variety of internal and external APIs

Establish and enforce standards for best practices for high-quality AI development and efficient implementation

Design complex agentic workflows leveraging data from PostgreSQL, DocumentDB, S3, and internal/external APIs
Build and maintain production-grade REST APIs (e.g., FastAPI) -
Collaborate with other engineers who are passionate about AI tooling, including Claude Code, Github Copilot, and more, including experienced AI developers

Mentor other engineers on building AI into their work — without taking on direct reports

Anticipated Posting End Date:
2026-06-30
Base Pay Range: $140,000/yr - $225,000/yr
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).

Options for rolling over a TIAA Traditional Annuity account
I worked for a Massachusetts-based university for a brief period of time in 2003-2004. The university’s retirement contributions were put into a TIAA CREF account and invested in TIAA’s Traditional Annuity. It’s a small amount of money (now about $14,500) relative to my whole portfolio, but it annoys me that it’s in an annuity account, and that it’s with TIAA when the rest of my investments are elsewhere.
