Overview of the Role:
The Real Estate Retail Senior Associate will join Nuveen’s real estate team based in Frankfurt to help grow the retail platform. Reporting to the Fund Manager, their main responsibilities will be supporting on all aspects of the fund management and investment. The individual will take over the responsibility for providing the analytical and financial analysis support, and managing the financial modelling of the Funds.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the fund and portfolio manager through providing analysis of strategic and tactical property portfolio and fund level investment decisions
- Assist the fund manager in reporting to the Investment Committee, clients, investors and other interested parties on matters relating to fund analysis and performance, potential new acquisitions, new purchases and disposals
- Engage the agents network and screen the market to find new investment/development opportunities in line with the agreed sectors/funds’ strategies;
- Financial modelling, organizing and preparing client presentations, helping manage transaction processes, and assisting in structuring transactions;
- Participate in the due diligence efforts performed during the acquisition phase (commercial, ESG, legal, tax, etc);
- Prepare quarterly reporting to investors, analysis and explanation of variances
- Assist in data collection of quarterly/annual property valuation process and review them
- Collect and ensure the reliability of data that relate to properties under management
- Frequent travels required
- Maintaining and applying strong local market knowledge (i.e., competition, supply pipeline, demand drivers, major tenants, market absorption).
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Master’s degree from a top Business School or University
- A sound understanding of performance measurement and investment analysis principles
- Strong analytical skills / Excellent spreadsheet skills
- Financial, analytical, and modelling skills (experienced user of Excel)
- Experience of Argus software desirable
- Fluency in German/English

Options for rolling over a TIAA Traditional Annuity account
I worked for a Massachusetts-based university for a brief period of time in 2003-2004. The university’s retirement contributions were put into a TIAA CREF account and invested in TIAA’s Traditional Annuity. It’s a small amount of money (now about $14,500) relative to my whole portfolio, but it annoys me that it’s in an annuity account, and that it’s with TIAA when the rest of my investments are elsewhere.
