Principal Developers at Thoughtworks can wear many hats. Depending on the client situation, you could be playing the role of a technical advisor to senior client executives, guide and direct solution architecture for large technical programs of work or drive technical implementation hand-on with our delivery teams.

Principal Developers also provide strategic and tactical leadership on accounts, establishing and maintaining trusted advisor status through high-impact client interactions. • You will champion and adopt best practices like writing clean and reusable code using TDD, pair programming and design patterns.

Job qualifications

Technical Skills

• Engineering Foundations: A strong background in Fullstack Development (Java/JS/Go Lang), with the ability to write clean, high-performance code across multiple languages.

• Cloud & Infrastructure as Code: Deep expertise in orchestrating environments within AWS/Azure/GCP, leveraging IaC with tools like Terraform to maintain modular and scalable infrastructure.

• DevOps & Automation: Proven track record in designing sophisticated CI/CD pipelines with tools like GitLab/Jenkins/Bamboo and automating complex workflows using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

• Observability: Experience implementing comprehensive monitoring and logging strategies using industry-standard tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack.

• Strategic Consulting: A background in solutioning or technical consulting, particularly within the Singapore Public Sector, is highly regarded.

• Operational Excellence: Comfortable working in Agile environments, with a focus on presales support and defining long-term technical roadmaps.

• You have a track record of managing the scope and shape of programs of work.

• You have experience with account management, third-party contractual agreements, client management & pre-sales, client reporting, and keeping budgets in check, and up-selling.

• You are comfortable helping delivery teams whenever needed.

• You are knowledgeable of delivery approaches such as TDD, continuous integration, and pairing.
