About the Role:

Thought Spot is looking for an experienced frontend engineering leader to own and evolve the user experience layer of our AI-driven analytics platform.

This role will lead the engineering teams responsible for frontend infrastructure, data visualization, and Liveboards (interactive dashboards)—the core interfaces through which customers explore and interact with data.

As the engineering leader for this area, you will define the technical vision for frontend architecture, guide the evolution of our React-based platform, and ensure the product experience remains scalable, high-performing, and reliable as Thought Spot continues to grow its AI-powered analytics capabilities.

This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can balance architecture, engineering execution, and team leadership while working closely with Product, Design, and AI teams to shape the future of Thought Spot’s user experience.

What You’ll Do:

Lead Frontend Engineering Teams:

• Lead and scale multiple frontend engineering teams responsible for frontend infrastructure, visualization systems, and interactive dashboards.
• Mentor engineering managers and senior engineers while building a strong culture of ownership and technical excellence.
• Hire and develop top frontend engineering talent.

Drive Frontend Architecture:

• Evaluate and evolve the frontend architecture, including React applications, GraphQL data layers, state management, and performance optimization.
• Lead initiatives to build a scalable, maintainable, and AI-ready frontend platform.
• Establish long-term architectural direction for visualization systems and dashboard experiences.

Improve Product Quality and Reliability:

• Build strong engineering practices around testing, reliability, and operational discipline.
• Reduce bug backlog through better systems, processes, and ownership.
• Implement metrics and operational frameworks that improve product stability and release quality.

Partner Cross-Functionally

• Work closely with Product, Design, and AI teams to build intuitive and powerful analytics experiences.
• Ensure the frontend platform evolves alongside Thought Spot’s AI-driven product vision.
• Represent the frontend platform in strategic engineering discussions and planning.

What You Have:

Engineering Leadership

• 15+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years leading engineering teams at the Director level or above.
• Proven experience managing multiple teams and senior engineering leaders.

Deep Frontend Expertise:

• Strong hands-on background in modern frontend development, especially React and TypeScript.
• Experience with GraphQL, client-side caching, state management, and large-scale frontend architectures.
• Experience building and scaling complex frontend platforms or UI-heavy products.

Architecture & Platform Thinking:

• Proven experience leading major frontend architecture redesigns or platform transformations.
• Strong understanding of performance optimization, frontend infrastructure, and scalable UI systems.

Product & Domain Experience (Preferred)

• Experience building data visualization systems, charting libraries, or dashboard products.
• Exposure to analytics platforms, enterprise SaaS products, or embedded analytics.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled product experiences.

Leadership & Collaboration:

• Strong ability to collaborate with Product, Design, and cross-functional teams.
• Track record of hiring and developing strong engineering talent.
• Excellent communication and executive stakeholder management skills.

Spotters are expected to demonstrate AI literacy and workflow integration to include to ability to:

• Comfortably and confidently integrate artificial intelligence into their daily workflow to increase productivity and quality.

• Hands-on experience to leverage AI tools (industry-leading LLMs) to increase productivity, automate routine tasks, and improve work quality.

• Speak to the experience of using AI for research, content creation, and document summarization while maintaining ownership of judgment and final decisions.

• Write effective prompts to get the most accurate and creative results from AI tools.

• Curiosity in exploring new AI tools

• Adaptability to quickly learn and implement new, emerging AI technologies

• Critical thinking to know when to identify when AI should be used versus when human judgement is necessary

Hybrid Work at Thought Spot

• This office-assigned role is available as a hybrid position, reporting to the office in India
• Bangalore.
  Spotters assigned to an office are encouraged to experience the energy of their local office with an in-office expectation of 2-3 days per week. This approach balances the benefits of in-person collaboration and peer learning with the flexibility needed by individuals and teams.
