Technical Lead – Korea (AI & Legal Research Platforms)
Are you a passionate technical leader ready to shape the future of AI-powered legal research in Korea? If you thrive at the intersection of advanced AI, large-scale engineering, and deep domain expertise, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact on how legal professionals access and reason over trusted legal content.
As part of the Korea Product Engineering Organisation, you will provide technical leadership for the design, development, and evolution of AI-driven platforms supporting legal research in Korea. You will own technical strategy and architectural direction, guide a local development team, and collaborate closely with global engineering and AI teams to deliver high-impact, production-grade solutions. Your work will directly shape how legal professionals in Korea — and increasingly across other regions — access, analyse, and reason over trusted legal content using advanced AI technologies.
About the Role
In this opportunity as a Technical Lead, you will:
- Define and execute the technical and AI strategy for platforms supporting legal research in Korea, aligned with broader product and business goals
- Act as the technical authority for AI system design, architecture, and implementation decisions, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agentic and multi-step reasoning workflows, natural language understanding, summarisation, question-answering systems, and LLM-based architectures
- Own architectural direction across backend services, AI pipelines, infrastructure, and data layers
- Lead technical roadmap planning, technology evaluation, and proof-of-concept development
- Provide hands-on leadership through design reviews, architecture reviews, and code reviews
- Mentor and develop engineers, raising engineering quality, productivity, and technical rigor
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, AI/ML, and global engineering teams to ensure cohesive delivery, and represent the Korea engineering team in cross-regional technical discussions and initiatives
About You
You're a fit for the role of Technical Lead if you have the following required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience using modern technology stacks, such as Python, .NET, Java, React, TypeScript, cloud platforms (e.g. AWS), relational and vector databases, and version control/CI/CD pipelines
- 3+ years of hands-on experience building AI/ML systems, including LLM integration (e.g. GPT, Claude, Gemini), RAG system design, optimisation and evaluation, vector search and semantic retrieval, and prompt engineering and LLM orchestration frameworks
- 3+ years of experience leading projects or teams in a technical leadership capacity
- Experience designing, deploying, and operating secure, production-grade web systems
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline design
- Fluency in Korean and English, both written and spoken
Additional preferred qualifications include:
- Fine-tuning or customising language models
- Operating AI systems at scale in production environments
- Deep familiarity with security-by-design principles and remediation practices
- Experience formulating and executing long-term technical strategies
