Job Description How You Will Make an Impact:

In this role, you will lead the Facility Services team of 22 employees within a large, fast-paced manufacturing plant, ensuring that all plant systems, property, utilities, and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory and GMP requirements. You will oversee daily team activities, drive equipment reliability, and maintain business continuity in an environment where uptime, quality, and safety are non-negotiable.

Working in a high-volume manufacturing environment means staying ahead of operational challenges, championing preventive and predictive maintenance, and ensuring your team executes with precision. Your leadership directly supports plant performance, regulatory readiness, and the safety of every employee on site.

  • Experience Required
  • Minimum 7 years of facility services experience in pharmaceutical, food, or cosmetic manufacturing; pharmaceutical preferred.
  • Strong background with HVAC, boilers, compressors, humidity control, and purified water systems.
  • Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using RCFA tools (FMEA, FMECA, Cause Mapping, Ishikawa, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience supporting or managing a 24/7 operation is an asset.

Equivalency: A combination of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

  • What You Will Do Lead and Develop Your Team
  • Communicate clear job expectations and lead daily huddles to drive On-Time Delivery (OTD) and Right-First-Time performance.
  • Plan, monitor, and evaluate work results for quality, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Manage team workload to reduce overtime while prioritizing planned and unplanned work.
  • Partner with the Maintenance Planner to coordinate scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Verify qualifications and ensure all team members are trained on equipment, procedures, and documentation standards.
  • Conduct performance reviews, coaching conversations, and continuous development planning.
  • Lead and support PPI (continuous improvement) activities to enhance processes and plant performance.

Maximize Asset Availability and Equipment Optimization:

Your leadership helps maintain high throughput in a large manufacturing environment:

  • Ensure maintenance work is performed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standard.

  • Champion proactive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and mitigate equipment failure.

  • Partner with Production to drive first-line operator maintenance where appropriate.

  • Review maintenance routines, planning, and scheduling to optimize equipment reliability.

  • Improve and evolve preventive and predictive maintenance programs for best-in-class performance.

  • Recommend maintenance process improvements, procedural updates, and efficiency enhancements.

  • Establish, track, and report on KPIs tied to asset performance and maintenance effectiveness.

  • Analyze energy usage and implement efficiency improvements to reduce operational costs.

  • Leadership Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe work environment and ensure all team members follow EH&S procedures.

  • Select, develop, and coach staff to support efficient departmental operations.

  • Support administrative processes and corporate procedures.

  • Participate in rotating or alternating shifts as operational needs require.

  • How You Will Get Here Education

  • Stationery Engineer or Licensed tradesperson in Mechanical or Electrical fields required.

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Science (B.Sc.) is an asset.

  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Deep understanding of GMP, WHMIS, and facility safety requirements.

  • Strong troubleshooting, decision-making, and root-cause analysis skills.

  • Proficiency with CMMS, Microsoft Office, and predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, infrared, lubrication, alignment).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills suited for a dynamic plant environment.

  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Fluency in English required.

The salary range estimated for this position based in Canada is $69,400.00–$104,050.00.
