DESCRIPTION:

Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in serving science, where you'll build supply chains for complex intermediates and starting materials to support manufacturing projects at Thermo Fisher Scientific's API Small Molecule sites. As a Project Manager, External Manufacturing, you'll execute development and manufacturing projects with external partners and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize supply chain performance, reduce costs, and ensure continuous improvement. You'll identify suitable suppliers, lead commercial negotiations, manage R&D projects as well as manufacturing projects with external partners and be responsible for delivery of key intermediates and starting materials to our sites. You'll leverage your expertise to develop and execute effective sourcing solutions while building strong supplier relationships that advance our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. Note: There is a possibility that this role can work remotely 1-2 days a week but the rest of the time working on-site at the Florence, SC location will be required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related fields (e.g. Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry) required. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Additional education/certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g. CPSM, CPSP) and/or Business Management is preferred.

  • Project management certification (e.g. PMP) preferred.

  • Excellent knowledge of ICH Q7A Good Manufacturing Practices and Guidance for API and Intermediates

Experience:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in managing API manufacturing tech transfer/development projects in pharmaceutical industry

  • Strong proficiency in project management, API scale up and manufacturing technology

  • Experience with supplier quality management systems and regulatory compliance is required.

  • Experience with RFPs/supplier sourcing preferred

  • Experience with ERP systems preferred

  • Experience in procurement/sourcing and supplier relationship management preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Proven negotiation skills and ability to influence in matrix environment across sites

  • Strong communication and presentation skills for engaging stakeholders at all levels

  • Ability to work collaboratively across global, cross-functional teams involving suppliers, internal parties and customers

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-value projects simultaneously with excellent organizational skills

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and project management tools

  • Fluency in English required, additional languages beneficial

  • Able and willing to travel as needed to China/India/EU
