Job Summary:
This position plays an integral role in developing and implementing sourcing strategies for the Procurement Excellence Buy Desk. The role is responsible for executing purchase orders, spot buys, sourcing events, and project-related activities across direct materials categories.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute one-time or low-complexity sourcing requests as part of the Procurement Excellence Buy Desk.
- Create and manage purchase orders (POs).
- Gather and analyze data using procurement and spend analytics tools.
- Partner with the Market Intelligence team to research and identify potential suppliers for sourcing requests.
- Conduct cost and scenario analyses to evaluate supplier bids.
- Research potential vendors and develop and execute RFPs for spend under $1M annually.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate clear business requirements into RFPs and contracts, as appropriate.
- Perform cost analysis, benchmarking, and scenario modeling to inform sourcing strategies.
- Negotiate contract terms, agreements, and pricing with suppliers, and track and record annual P&L savings.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior sourcing generalists on category-specific requirements.
Competencies
Functional & Technical Skills:
- Experience with sourcing processes, vendor management, contract negotiations, and procure-to-pay operations, including creating and managing purchase orders.
- Proficiency in sourcing tools (e-sourcing platforms, spend analytics tools, ERP systems, and supplier management software).
- Strong negotiation skills, including soliciting bids and negotiating directly with suppliers.
- Broad experience across direct sourcing categories.
- Knowledge of FDA/ISO regulations and quality systems preferred.

- Agility and flexibility to develop expertise across sourcing categories complementary to the existing team.

Experience & Qualifications
- 3+ years of procurement experience within direct categories (e.g., Biologicals & Biochemicals, Packaging, or Chemicals).
- Proven experience as a Buyer, Senior Buyer, Purchasing Specialist, Agent, or Officer.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field.
High level of English proficiency (written and verbal).
