Position Purpose:
The Manager, Environmental leads the execution of The Home Depot’s enterprise environmental strategy, translating company commitments into measurable business impact. This role helps lead the Eco Actions program, connecting customers to more sustainable products and projects for their homes. The Manager is accountable for enterprise sustainability reporting, ensuring accurate measurement and clear communication of environmental performance across the organization. Additionally, this role provides cross functional leadership on strategic initiatives with both internal and external stakeholders across Merchandising, Operations, Supply Chain, and other areas of the business to support company priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- 25% Identification and qualification of Eco Options products, branding and integration of these products across the enterprise including marketing vehicles and vendor/merchant communications. Accountable for ensuring accurate communication to both internal partners and external consumers.
- 25% Manages relationship with 3rd party certification companies to ensure alignment with the appropriate standards and removes process roadblocks when necessary. Creates and manages relationships with US Environmental Protection Agency Energy Star and Water Sense programs to stay abreast of national environmental initiatives.
- 25% Manages supplier product audits to verify environmental attributes such as wood sourcing or chemical makeup as needed for compliance with The Home Depot environmental policies.
- 25% Assists for various external/industry environmental reporting requirements.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- Reports to Senior Manager, Environmental Innovation.
- This position has no direct reports.
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferably in a related industry with a focus on Environmental topics
- Proven ability to implement initiatives in a fast-paced retail environment
- Competence in project and process management, organization and strategic planning with the ability to execute a tactical plan, managing multiple projects at a time
Minimum Education:
- The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
