What You Will Do:

The Bed Placement Specialist is responsible for the coordination and assignment of inpatient beds across the THR enterprise, to ensure optimal patient flow and utilization of hospital resources. This role involves collaboration with various departments including nursing, admissions, and clinical teams, to facilitate timely and appropriate patient placements. The specialist must balance patient care needs with bed availability, ensuring efficient use of hospital resources.

The Centralized Staffing Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing staffing needs across various departments across the enterprise. This role ensures that all units are adequately staffed to maintain optimal patient care and operational efficiency. This role involves collaboration with various departments including CSO nursing and non-nursing, enterprise clinical teams and leaders to fill staffing gaps and adjust schedules as needed.

  • Assess incoming patient information to determine appropriate bed placement based on medical needs, bed availability and hospital resources.
  • Collaborates with entity administrative supervisor, Patient Logistics, Patient Access, Nursing staff, and physicians to ensure proper patient placement.
  • Maintains expertise in bed management system to address and resolve any issues or conflicts related to bed assignments and patient placement.
  • Performs quick registration and notifies physicians, patients and nursing administration of pertinent information such as account number, room number estimated time of arrival, etc.
  • Drives best practices and standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency and patient care.
  • Collaborates with nursing leaders, department leaders, entity and CSO employees to fill scheduling gaps.
  • Coordinates real-time On-Demand and future staffing for Texas Health wholly owned and affiliated partners.
  • Drives best practices and standard operating procedures to enhance staffing efficiency and staff satisfaction.
  • Takes incoming calls from enterprise and CSO staff regarding absences and/or late arrivals.
  • Utilizes staffing software and Share Point to manage and track staff schedules, availability, assignments, and call ins.
