Gigafactory Texas is seeking a Facilities Electrical Engineer to own, operate, and maintain critical electrical systems supporting new advanced manufacturing programs. Come and join us to help build a world of amazing abundance.
What You’ll Do

Perform energy audits, usage calculations, circuit analysis, and efficiency optimization for critical loads plant-wide; develop circuit protection strategies for voltage sag and cost reduction initiatives

Provide comprehensive engineering support for design, operation, improvement, and troubleshooting of facility electrical systems including load flow analysis, power system studies, breaker coordination, arc flash studies, and protective relay/SCADA configuration

Review design plans/specifications, provide cost estimating, verify construction compliance with design intent, and update standards/processes based on findings; lead root cause analysis on asset failures using trending software

Coordinate electrical distribution improvement and resiliency projects across downtime activities, maintenance scheduling (CMMS), and procurement of spares/temporary power solutions

Collaborate within interdisciplinary teams to design and optimize electrical systems; provide technical training to technicians; coordinate with internal customers (Central Utilities, Supercharging, Megapack, Solar, Manufacturing, IT) and implement site-wide best practices to improve asset effectiveness and maintainability
What You’ll Bring

Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability

5–10 years of direct operational facilities (semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.) experience building high-tech infrastructure

Professional registration as an Electrical Engineer in the State of California or from another state preferred
-
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced environment

Ability to interface with multiple engineering disciplines

Medium Voltage equipment including – operating/maintaining the equipment, troubleshooting and programming/adjusting medium voltage relays
-
Advanced knowledge and experience in Electric utility substation and distribution power system engineering, maintenance, and operations; electric utility distribution system switchgear; ability to read and understand design intent of electric utility system drawings (one-lines, three-lines, schematics, etc.)

Well versed in electric utility system safe work practices in accordance with OSHA, HAZMAT safety protocols, IEEE C37/C57, NEC/NFPA 70/70E, NETA-ATS/MTS, and electrical OEM recommendations

Experience establishing standards and specifications for Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS) and high-voltage electrical systems per commissioning standards and applicable safety regulations
