About the role
What to Expect
The NPI Engineer, Logistics owns planning and coordination of all NPI logistics activities. You will join a strong, capable team and lead cross-functional coordination across NPI Engineering, NPI Logistics Operations, Logistics Engineering, Material Planning, and NPI Operations to ensure internal material movement is planned and executed seamlessly through every build phase. You are a self-starter with strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple projects and priorities in parallel. Exceptional planning and communication skills are essential.
What You’ll Do
- Plan and coordinate pre-production material flow from Tesla warehouses to production lineside in line with program build phases and milestones.
- Participate in and lead cross-functional meetings to plan and execute logistics material planning and flow.
- Design and implement efficient material flow strategies and material presentation layouts.
- Optimize material flows using lean production and lean logistics principles.
- Identify, escalate, and resolve issues that restrict material flow; proactively drive solutions.
- Prepare and maintain master data for the material flow system.
- Report plan and status in program and shopfloor meetings.
- Oversee NPI obsolescence and scrap, driving actions to reduce waste.
- Communicate and collaborate openly with vendors, internal leadership, maintenance, and Material Flow Engineering counterparts across Tesla’s global network.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of technical project management experience in automotive or Tier 1/Tier 2 logistics.
- Hands-on experience with material flow strategies and dynamic manufacturing systems.
- Experience in material flow, warehouse, and lineside planning in automotive manufacturing.
- Technical knowledge of material presentation and supply methods (e.g., kitting, sequencing, Kanban, lineside presentation).
- Experience with material handling processes and related equipment in manufacturing environments.
- Ability to take projects from concept through production launch in a close-knit, fast-paced team.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills; able to manage several complex projects under high variation and uncertainty.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English (C1 or higher), effective at all organizational levels.
