What to Expect
Perform gardening and groundskeeping across campus sites to maintain safe, functional, and sustainable outdoor environments with native and drought-resistant plantings, debris control, equipment operation, and support for site operations and green initiatives.
What You’ll Do
- Perform gardening duties including planting, pruning, weeding, and care for lawns, shrubs, trees, and flower beds emphasizing native drought-resistant species
- Conduct debris cleanup around buildings, parking areas, walkways, and perimeters using blowers, rakes, and collection equipment
- Maintain grounds by mowing, edging, mulching, and applying eco-friendly treatments for soil health, pest control, and erosion prevention
- Operate and maintain equipment such as electric mowers, trimmers, pressure washers, and utility vehicles including towing trailers
- Monitor and address safety hazards such as spills, blockages, or overgrown areas while supporting seasonal snow/ice or storm cleanup
- Collaborate with facilities & engineering teams to integrate grounds work with site operations, EV infrastructure, solar areas, and green initiatives like composting or pollinator gardens
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, waste management, and safety standards while documenting work, reporting issues, and recommending improvements
What You’ll Bring
- At least 2 years of combined experience in gardening, landscaping, debris removal, or facilities maintenance preferably in corporate or industrial settings
- Knowledge of sustainable practices including organic pest management, recycling, water-efficient techniques, irrigation systems, and waste sorting
- Valid driver’s license with experience operating utility vehicles or towing trailers preferred
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards, environmental regulations, and waste management protocols
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Availability for full-time hours including weekends, early mornings, or on-call duties during peak seasons or weather events
- Certifications in horticulture, landscaping, or grounds management preferred along with proficiency in electric or battery-powered tools
