Test Engineer, Remanufacturing
About the role
What to Expect
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated
Test Engineer who thrives on deploying, sustaining, and improving manufacturing
test equipment. You will own test hardware and software performance for
remanufacturing operations—driving uptime, cycle time, and first-pass yield
while debugging electrical, controls, and software issues. You bring hands-on
technical depth, clear communication, and a can-do attitude in a fast-paced
environment where creative problem-solving and real ownership are
expected.
What You’ll Do
-
Deploy, validate, and
sustain manufacturing test equipment for remanufacturing production
lines -
Design and improve test
equipment hardware (mechanical and electrical) with emphasis on safety,
serviceability, and robust connections -
Develop, maintain,
and optimize production test software to improve coverage,
reliability, and operational efficiency -
Lead uptime, cycle time, and
first-pass yield improvements on test equipment (hardware reliability,
software faults, maintenance readiness) -
Troubleshoot and debug
electrical, controls, and software issues; support 24/7 operations as
needed during ramp and sustain -
Collaborate with
manufacturing, process, quality, controls, and maintenance engineering so
test equipment meets production expectations -
Partner with product and
process design teams to define test specifications that balance yield,
quality, and line rate -
Perform proactive data
analysis on tester and product results; translate findings into clear
actions for technical and non-technical audiences -
Identify technical risk
early; prototype fixtures, methods, and instrumentation to mitigate issues
before they hit production -
Document designs, procedures,
qualifications, and handoffs so equipment can be operated and
sustained without tribal knowledge
What You’ll Bring
-
Degree in Electrical,
Software, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
experience -
7+ years of relevant
experience in test equipment development, deployment, and
optimization -
Hands-on experience with test
and automation systems: sensors, data acquisition, safety circuits, I/O,
PLCs, and industrial instrumentation -
Familiarity with high-voltage
power electronics and/or battery systems strongly preferred -
Ability to read and work with
software (Python preferred; Go, C/C++, C#, LabVIEW,
or Test Stand a plus) and contribute using git/version
control -
Experience debugging common
industrial communication protocols (e.g., CAN, Modbus, RS-232/SPI) and
interpreting bus traces -
Hands-on with electrical
tools (DMM, oscilloscope, power supplies) and practical skills in wiring,
instrumentation, assembly, and modification -
Solid understanding of
production equipment design concerns: operator safety, usability,
serviceability, and ruggedness -
Ability to work under
pressure, manage competing priorities, and communicate clearly across
engineering and operations -
Willingness to support
production operations outside standard hours when equipment or launch
critical path requires it
