About the role

What to Expect

The Quality Assurance Specialist supports site quality by investigating nonconformances and deficiencies, leading root cause analysis, and auditing processes and procedures across internalteams and contractors. The role focuses on systemic gaps, quality of corrective action, and clear reporting to leadership, not pass/fail inspection or administrative tracking. Partners with the Quality Site Manager, project leadership, operations, and contractors to close issues sustainably and improve first-time quality.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan and execute process and procedure audits of internal teams and contractors (e.g., work instructions, ITPs, hold/witness points, quality records); document objective evidence, issue clear actionable findings, and capture recurring issues for trend analysis
  • Lead root cause analysis on nonconformances and deficiencies (e.g., 5-Why, fishbone, fault tree as applicable); develop fact-based problem statements, recommend effective corrective/preventive actions, and identify systemic themes that inform continuous improvement initiatives
  • Verify that proposed corrective actions address root cause and support sustainable closure; provide investigation outcomes to the Quality Coordinator for tracking and due date follow-up
  • Review quality documentation for completeness and compliance (e.g., inspection records, material certs, turnover packages, quality evidence) in support of audits, nonconformance investigations, and trend/continuous improvement inputs
  • Lead trend analysis of audit findings, nonconformance data, and quality performance signals to identify systemic gaps; initiate and drive continuous improvement initiativeswith responsible teams through to measurable results
  • Prepare clear reports and presentations of audit results, RCA outcomes, trend analysis, and continuous improvement recommendations for upper management and Site Manager review
  • Follow up on issued audit findings and continuous improvement actions to confirm corrective actions were implemented and effective, escalating unresolved or high-risk gaps to the Quality Site Manager

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 8 years as a quality inspector on large-scale industrial projects, including at least 3 years of auditing, quality investigation, and root cause analysis experience
  • Hands-on experience with nonconformance management and RCA; able to separate symptoms from systemic causes, drive actionable CAPA, experience with trend analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Working knowledge of auditing processes and procedures for internal teams and contractors; comfortable preparing audit checklists, findings, objective evidence, and clear management reports
  • Solid knowledge of regulatory requirements that drive the quality program and familiarity with key construction codes (e.g., ASME, AWS, AISC, RCSC); able to read and interpret technical documents, ITPs, controlled documents, and quality records with disciplined attention to detail
  • Broad understanding of quality management principles across the project lifecycle (e.g., engineering, environmental compliance, procurement, construction, testing, operations, and commissioning)
  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); comfortable with shared drives, Share Point, Bluebeam, or basic QMS/trackers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with solid organization, timemanagement, and multitasking ability; self-starter and team player who challenges gaps professionally, facilitates RCA discussions, assigns clear owners and due dates, and performs effectively onsite in a fast-paced environment
