About the role

What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Engineering Technician to contribute to implementing and sustaining Industrial Engineering principles to the total manufacturing process of our cutting-edge Powertrain and Energy Products at Gigafactory Nevada. Through a detailed understanding of the factory objectives and extensive collaboration with internal and external teams, you will help optimize our manufacturing process. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Tesla’s world class manufacturing facility in Sparks. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work on critical subsystems of an incredibly exciting product.
What You’ll Do

  • Production equipment, conveyance, material flow, and human work measurement for operations and engineering stakeholders (occasionally at off-site locations)
  • Labor studies including direct and indirect labor analysis
  • Layout and space readiness initiatives for existing line optimization and new line installations, including 2D CAD design
  • High quality decision support through, primarily but not limited to data analysis on Excel
  • Support of structured problem solving and cross functional continuous improvement initiatives

What You’ll Bring

  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • Track record of excellence in current and prior roles and able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
  • Experience as part of a project team prioritizing multiple continuous improvement projects
  • 1+ year(s) experience or relevant skills in a manufacturing environment, technician experience preferred
  • Distinguishing experience/skills: 2D/3D CAD, lean manufacturing, work measurement, analytics (SQL, Excel Modelling, etc.), completed or in-program STEM degrees preferred
  • Expertise in Auto CAD 2D design (including but not limited to: Hatching, X-Ref, and data extraction)
  • Competency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel

Essential Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
  • Ability to perform repetitious duties, including stairs and standing for long periods of time over varied and uneven terrain
  • Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 30 lbs. and climb a 10" step and back down
  • Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift, reach, stoop, lay, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time
  • Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, or hearing
  • Potential exposure to confined spaces and hazardous material
