The internship assignment :
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven intern to join the Quality Paint team. This role focuses on performing complex analysis across primer, basecoat, clearcoat, and final inspection areas of the paint shop and stakeholders (PA/GA). The intern will support continuous improvement initiatives by collecting, analysing, and interpreting quality data to identify trends, root causes, and actionable insights that drive defect reduction and process optimization.
What You’ll Do

Data Collection & Analysis: Gather and consolidate quality data from all paint shop processes (pretreatment, e-coat, sealer, primer, basecoat, clearcoat, and final audit) to perform complex statistical and trend analyses.

Defect Investigation: Conduct thorough root cause analysis (RCA) on paint defects such as craters, runs, sags, orange peel, dirt inclusions, color mismatch, and adhesion failures across the entire paint shop.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Paint Engineering, Process Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to correlate quality findings with process parameters and equipment performance.

Dashboard & Reporting: Develop and maintain visual dashboards, Pareto charts, control charts, and summary reports to communicate quality performance and highlight areas of concern to leadership.

Process Audits: Support layered process audits and quality checks at each stage of the paint process to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for defect reduction and process improvement; propose and help implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Standards & Documentation: Assist in maintaining and updating quality standards, work instructions, and inspection criteria for paint shop operations.

Benchmarking: Compare quality KPIs across shifts, lines, and time periods to detect anomalies and drive best-practice sharing.
What You’ll Bring

Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, charts); experience with tools such as Minitab, Power BI, Tableau, or Python is a plus.

Familiarity with statistical methods (SPC, Six Sigma basics, hypothesis testing, regression analysis) is preferred.

Knowledge of paint processes and coating technologies is a plus but not required.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Effective communication skills ability to present findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
