About the role

What to Expect

The Responsible Sourcing & Supplier Due Diligence Team is looking for a highly skilled and motivated specialist to support Tesla’s growing supplier environmental responsibility program, including our Net-Zero Emissions 2040 target. The ideal candidate for the Staff Supplier Environmental Sustainability Specialist position should have expertise developing and implementing strategic environmental sustainability programs in a manufacturing supply chain. This role supports our supply chain manufacturing and engineering operations by integrating sustainability into core processes, ensuring compliance, driving environmental initiatives and excelerating Tesla’s mission of Amazing Abundance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams build and drive Tesla’s supply chain environmental strategy including mitigating negative impacts, fostering supplier best practices, tracking progress and communicating to stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead consolidation of Tesla supply chain environmental strategy to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and governance across teams
  • Own continued development and execution of the multi year net zero emissions roadmap across the Tesla supply chain
  • Drive supplier decarbonization by engaging suppliers on reduction projects, renewable electricity adoption, and capability building while tracking progress against Tesla targets
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing to embed sustainability and low carbon concepts into end to end product development
  • Build key performance indicators and leadership communications that demonstrate program trajectory, next steps, and decisions needed
  • Ensure Tesla shows continued leadership in public disclosures through high quality supply chain environmental data and clear stakeholder reporting

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in engineering (environmental / chemical / mechanical / sustainability), or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years experience in manufacturing setting especially metals/plastic sectors, and well versed in environmental and sustainability topics
  • Proven stakeholder management skills and ability to build consensus across diverse interest in support of program goals
  • Experience developing or executing environmental sustainability strategies and multi year roadmaps in a supply chain context, especially across multiple workstreams
  • Ability to present complex environmental issues clearly and manage multiple initiatives and timelines simultaneously
  • Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills working across technical and commercial partners
