What to Expect
Tesla is looking to hire a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to lead the development and launch of a service manufacturing line for our advanced battery products. In this role you will take the service manufacturing line from early concept development through equipment specification, build-out, optimization, and handover to local operations teams. You will define and implement the processes for producing new battery products to support Tesla's legacy vehicle fleet, ensuring continued availability of high-quality replacement parts for customers in the field. Battery development is at the heart of our company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges with electric vehicles - battery architecture innovation and the creation of world-class service manufacturing line capabilities. What You’ll Do
- Ideate concepts for a service manufacturing line, including equipment and system design for producing new battery products for legacy vehicles
- Lead the concept development, design, and build-out of the service manufacturing line
- Define and develop manufacturing processes for new battery products that support Tesla's legacy vehicle fleet
- Develop equipment specifications and manage the RFQ process for service manufacturing line equipment
- Lead and manage vendors and coordinate project scope cross-functionally with production, design, and quality teams
- Validate and optimize service manufacturing line processes from early prototype builds through full volume production
- Lead on-site installation, commissioning, and qualification of service manufacturing line equipment at production facilities
- Coordinate equipment layout, utility requirements, and facility readiness to ensure successful line installation and start-up
- Travel required 50% of the time, primarily to Europe, as well as other domestic and international locations
What You’ll Bring

Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Physics, Materials, or equivalent experience

5+ years of engineering or equivalent relevant experience

Experience developing, implementing, deploying, qualifying, and validating manufacturing processes and equipment for production lines in highly automated, high-volume environments

Experience with battery systems, energy products, or electromechanical assemblies is a plus

Proficiency in geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) and experimental design

Proficiency in the development and launch of large, highly automated production lines

Familiarity with industrial engineering concepts such as line balancing and OEE
