What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Technical Program Manager for our Gigafactory in Buffalo, New York to contribute to the design and development of new automation equipment and assembly lines.

The Technical Program Manager will work to manage technical projects from kickoff to closeout along with several Manufacturing Engineering peers. Throughout this process, the candidate is responsible for identifying risks to the project and for driving solutions. The candidate will manage internal and external stakeholders by acting as the point of contact between different individuals and teams. The candidate will regularly collect, compile, and consolidate information from a variety of sources into trackers, checklists, and reports. The candidate is expected to contribute lessons learned to Tesla's global standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Kickoff to Closeout accountability for multiple simultaneous manufacturing engineering projects

  • Work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders such as New Product Introduction, Manufacturing Engineering, Controls Engineering, vendors, etc. through all project phases: Sourcing, Design, Build, Install and Commissioning

  • Ensure stakeholder alignment on engineering requirements, scope, schedule, budget, etc.

  • Set goals, track deliverables, identify risks, and drive solutions

  • Document and keep up-to-date all project resources, such as labor allocations and schedules, milestones, deliverables, etc. in accordance with Tesla standard practices

  • Prepare and present project status updates for project stakeholders, management, and executives

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience in technical program or project management, with multiple examples of delivering capital equipment projects valued $25M or above

  • Prior experience with project management of external vendors and/or internal teams

  • Prior experience working with engineering teams on electrical and software design

  • Familiarity with project management standards and best practices such as Agile, Scrum, Kanban, etc.

  • Technical writing and speaking competency, especially with the development of presentations and technical reports

  • Knowledge of project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Gantt charts, JIRA, etc.
