About the role
What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Optimus Data Collection Materials Coordinator to support the rapid development and data collection efforts for Optimus, with strong focus on receiving, shipping, inventory accuracy, and safe material movement in a fast-paced robotics environment. You will ensure timely and accurate handling of components, sensors, motion-capture gear, prototypes, and related materials critical to engineering tests and data-gathering sessions—keeping warehouse operations safe, efficient, and disruption-free.
What You’ll Do
- Unload, inspect, verify, and process incoming stock of components, sensors, batteries, motion-capture suits, and prototypes against purchase orders and manifests
- Pack, label, and prepare outgoing shipments for engineering teams, offsite testing, or supplier returns to ensure on-time and compliant delivery
- Update inventory records in real-time using Tesla systems, perform cycle counts, and report damaged, missing, or defective items
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to move and organize materials on racks and in designated storage areas
- Expedite critical materials and proactively resolve bottlenecks from receiving through final use to prevent data collection downtime
- Monitor stock levels, adjust reorder points, and trigger replenishment to maintain optimal inventory without excess or obsolescence
- Collaborate with Optimus engineering, data collection, and logistics teams to align material needs and resolve operational issues
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in warehouse, receiving, shipping, material handling, or inventory roles (manufacturing or high-tech preferred)
- Ability to frequently lift, bend, reach, push, and pull materials up to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to obtain forklift/powered industrial truck certification (Tesla provides training)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate inventory and documentation
- Basic computer proficiency for inventory systems, scanners, and data entry
- Enthusiasm for robotics, Optimus, and contributing to Tesla’s mission of sustainable energy and advanced automation
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, safety-first environment with potential variable shifts
