We are looking for a highly motivated engineer who wants to lead the charge for the world's largest fast-charging network. You will join a talented group of engineers who own the Supercharger Site Controller software that securely manages Supercharger sites – telemetry, OTA updates, billing and authorization, payment terminals and displays, site-level power distribution and grid support, and communication with the Tesla cloud - while providing essential data for Tesla's mobile app and vehicle UI. Our apps run in an embedded Linux environment and are primarily written in Golang, C++, and Rust. You will lead cross-functional initiatives across product software, validation, and field reliability, building best-in-class charging software as we expand next-generation Superchargers and drive the future of EV adoption.
What You’ll Do
- Design, architect, and deliver high-quality, testable software for Supercharger Site Controller applications using Golang, C++, or Rust
- Lead design and implementation of solutions within a microservice architecture on top of an embedded Linux platform
- Drive hands-on product bring-up, accelerating deployment through commissioning and serviceability improvements
- Own root cause analysis of field issues and deliver quick, high-quality solutions; establish team practices for debugging and incident response
- Define and grow CI test strategy (unit test, SIL, HIL, etc.) to validate component and system functionality; collaborate with validation teams on integration test strategies
- Plan and execute roadmap initiatives to meet product requirements on time with high-quality, scalable software solutions
- Collaborate with device and cloud software, product management, application engineering, and hardware teams to design solutions that support new Supercharger product requirements and deliver those solutions on time
- Mentor engineers, set technical direction, and drive strategic planning for the team
What You’ll Bring
- 7+ years of professional software development experience using application layer languages like Golang, C++, or Rust
- Experience leading technical teams, mentoring engineers, and driving strategic planning
- Experience writing unit tests and practicing test-driven development
- Experience with software development for IoT platforms (Internet of Things)
- Experience developing mission-critical applications on embedded Linux
- Experience with JSON, Protobuf, gRPC, REST, HTTP, TLS, TCP, UDP, and CAN
- Desired to have experience with the device to cloud interfaces of charging protocols such as OCPP, ISO15118, etc.
- Desired to have experience implementing software for power conversion, thermal controls, battery management, or other highly physical product implementations
- Comfortable with multi-tasking, prioritizing, and working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills
