About the role

What to Expect
The Engineering Technician supporting the Metrology team will ensure that all products meet customer and company requirements by performing inspections of individual components, stampings, castings, and supplier parts. This individual will be required to learn and adhere to company policies, quality, including metrology processes and safety requirements. An effective candidate must have the ability to meet tight deadlines, have strong interpersonal skills, and communication skills. They need to be detail-oriented and critical thinkers. They must establish and maintain a professional working relationship with external and internal teams at all levels across the company. They will also be required to balance multiple projects, utilizing various skill sets in a highly dynamic and diverse working environment. They must be able to work independently but also be a strong contributor in small and large groups.
What You’ll Do

  • Operation of stationary CMM equipment to support monitoring of production processes, commissioning of new production and root cause activities
  • Experience with PCDMIS and/or Calypso is a plus
  • CATIA or 3D CAD experience to work with native files as well as STEP and IGES
  • Liaise with Production, Engineering and Manufacturing teams
  • Understand manufacturing processes for application in measurement study requirements
  • Apply measurement best practices for special investigations
  • Fully understand datum scheme requirements and applications along with GD&T
  • Utilize metrology equipment to collect tactile and scan data and output detailed reports to communicate key findings
  • Required to lead and support 5S activities to ensure that workplace is organized, equipment spares are properly maintained and material flows through the lab in an efficient manner

What You’ll Bring

  • Inspection equipment experience: Horizontal or bridge style CMM
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of GD&T application
  • Programming in PCDMIS and/or Caligo; Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, height gage, etc.
  • Experience with structured light scanning systems is a plus
  • CAD: CATIA or 3D CAD experience
  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
