What To Expect
At Tesla Engineering Germany in Freiburg, we’re building the future of sustainable energy by developing innovative power electronics for energy storage and vehicle charging systems. Join our team to collaborate across different engineering areas, solve meaningful challenges creatively and transfer concepts from initial design, through prototyping and testing into real-world solutions.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of market access and surveillance for the EMEA region. You will tackle diverse challenges across a wide range of regulations—from cybersecurity and AI to grid integration and environmental directives—ensuring our products not only meet but exceed compliance standards.

What You'll Do

  • Plan, set up, and execute hands-on validation and compliance tests on Tesla charging products in our Freiburg laboratory.
  • Prepare and configure charging systems for external testing and provide on-site technical support at notified bodies and third-party labs.
  • Conduct in-field testing and commissioning at customer or pilot sites to validate performance, safety, and interoperability, sometimes in coordination with local authorities or utility partners.
  • Execute specialized test campaigns covering areas such as electrical safety, metrology (calibration/billing accuracy), Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication, and cybersecurity protocols.
  • Identify, analyze, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues discovered during testing, collaborating with design engineers to find solutions.
  • Develop detailed test plans, meticulously document test procedures and results, and author comprehensive technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Clearly communicate test outcomes, key findings, and project status to engineering and management teams.

  • What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a product compliance, regulatory, or homologation role.
  • Proven hands-on experience in a test engineering role within a laboratory or field environment, preferably with power electronics, EV charging, or related systems.
  • Proficiency with standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, multimeters, data acquisition systems).
  • Experience in creating test plans, executing test procedures, and writing clear, concise technical reports.
  • Familiarity with compliance and validation testing in one or more of the following areas: electrical safety (LVD), EMC, metrology, V2X, or cybersecurity.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with a meticulous, detail-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work independently and manage testing projects with minimal supervision, both in the lab and in the field.
  • Willingness to travel to external test labs and field sites as required.
