What to Expect
The Mechanical Superintendent oversees the planning, coordination, and supervision of mechanical construction, installation, and maintenance activities to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards while leading crews and coordinating with other trades.
What You’ll Do
- Supervise mechanical crews in the installation and maintenance of piping, HVAC, process equipment, and related systems
- Plan daily and weekly work activities and monitor progress against project schedules
- Interpret drawings and specifications; resolve field issues and coordinate with engineering and other trades
- Enforce safety programs, site rules, and applicable codes; conduct toolbox talks
- Coordinate materials, equipment, tools, and subcontractors while tracking inventory
- Inspect work for quality and compliance; oversee testing, commissioning, and punch-list resolution
- Maintain accurate daily reports, timekeeping, and progress documentation
What You’ll Bring
- Technical degree or trade certification preferred, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of mechanical construction or industrial maintenance experience, including 3–5 years in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, piping, HVAC, process equipment, and related codes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometrics, and technical specifications
- Proven leadership skills managing multi-craft crews
- Solid understanding of construction scheduling, productivity, and basic cost control
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work in field/construction environments
